we’ve wrote up some reviews of some of our favourite releases of November, and it’s been yet another fantastic month of music on the scene – you can check out all of our reviews below ⬇️
Leeds based country-folk musician Robin Cooper has returned with his new single “Whiskey Into Wine“! we’ve covered his music a bunch in the past, and his lyrical capabilities seem effortless, his ability to convey a story through his songwriting is excellent and this track is real proof of that ability. chock-full of lovely melodies, there’s a luscious mix of instrumentation that really provide a great backdrop for the track. well worth a listen!
a familiar face for us, VALA have just released their new EP “Can I kiss you on the lips“! we love their laidback, indie-folk sound and this EP sounds even better than we imagined. with gorgeous vocal melodies, intimate yet dynamic feel to each of the tracks, and a great feel-good atmosphere to it, it’s a fantastic listen – you can tell that these guys had a blast making these tunes and it comes across in their tunes.
we’ve known Carl North for a good while now, having been on the Manchester scene a few years ago, and he’s back with a new single “Blame” – his vocal ability is on full display right from the get-go on this track, and his storytelling is second to none. the track’s got a gorgeous flow to it, a real americana/70’s rock sound to it, and it compliments his songwriting style superbly. another fantastic track under his belt!
another familiar face for us, Luna Marble have just put out their self-titled debut album “Luna Marble“! we’re huge fans of these guys, with music that’s sonically massive, with nasty guitar riffs throughout, powerful vocals and driving rhythm – you can really sense such a level of atmosphere within every single track. they’re able to create a fantastic groove within their music, and it’s a real testament to their musicianship and dedication to their craft. such a great listen!
Manchester-based songwriter Doad has just put out his third album “Songs From Stanley Road“! we love his folky rock sound, with such a character to his music, a real warmth within his songwriting that really invites the listener in, feeling almost like a conversation. this album is a brilliant listen, with expertly written tracks, with lovely instrumentation and production that really compliments his writing. well worth checking out!
we had Doghouse perform for us a few times this year, and we’re huge fans of his intimate and raw sound – he’s just put out his new single “Phantom Song & The Kid“! his ability to paint a picture with his lyrics is excellent, and these two songs are incredible. his fingerpicking sound entwined with his delicate, yet fierce lyrics really ensure you’re locked onto every word, and the production on these is fantastic – maintaining that personal connection but elevating the tracks in a quality yet intricate manner.
we’ve been huge fans of FEAR OF MARKO for a good while now, having covered a bunch of the previous singles, and he’s back with a brand new EP “Violent Delights“! it sounds incredible, with his signature heavy/electronic sound throughout, fierce and powerful vocal, and ability to really create a tune that’s not only lyrically adept, but catchy and unique – with incredible production throughout, the EP is a fantastic listen!
we had Lonely Mountain perform for us earlier this year, and we were blown away by their musical talent – and this new single “Whale Song” is a real indication of what they’ve got to offer! a gorgeous guitar riff forms the base of the track, and with soaring vocals, lovely instrumentation, there’s a fantastic atmosphere to the track, feeling super intimate yet also moves into a feel-good upbeat groove, a proper dynamic to the track. well worth checking out!
