Manchester-based experimental act Through the Gloom have just released their album “How to Start a Cult (Part II: The Flock)“! with gorgeous ambient drones, exquisite texturing and dark soundscaping, there’s a real passion in the craft of this release, evolving so well throughout the run order of the tracks. there’s such a fantastic use of melody, contrasted to the darker monotone and chromatic soundscaping, which culminates in an eerie yet engaging atmosphere. a lovely listen!


Sheffield’s melodic indie outfit Plasticine have just put out their new single “Pink Sky“! a luscious, dreamy track with a real drive to it, it opens up with hard-hitting percussion that is enveloped by soaring, atmospheric guitar patterns, grounded by the rhythm and bass working in perfect unison to form the foundation of the track. the vocals glide effortlessly, and with lovely melodies and harmonies, it sounds fantastic. they’ve crafted a lovely tune that’s definitely gonna be on repeat!


Derbyshire’s Marseille have just released their latest single “Where I Went Wrong“! we’ve covered their music a bunch previously and we’re always so in awe of their genre-blending, huge anthemic tracks – and this new tune sounds fantastic. opening with a chord progression that invokes a strong 90’s nostalgia, it’s got a real sense of intimacy to it, and it builds so effortlessly into the anthemic, huge chorus that they’re known for. another fantastic track under their belt to go along with their entire discography!


Alt-pop sensation Lavender Rodriguez has just released their newest single “CHAOS“! with infectious, driving energy right from the get-go, it’s got huge rhythm, pulsating drums and fantastic production. you can hear the creative process in this track, born from frustration and burnout, yet translated into a proper energetic anthemic track – there’s so many fantastic uses of instrumentation that all come together expertly. it’s well worth a listen!


we’ve covered Oh!Alfie’s music a bunch before, and we had him perform for us last year, and we were so blown away by his songwriting ability and his talent – this new single “8PM IN FUENGIROLA!” is true evidence of that! there’s a real groove behind the track, with a proper summer feeling to it, truly reflecting the title – Alfie’s vocal sounds fantastic here, inviting the listener into his world, and it’s such a well produced track, with lovely synths, rhythm and instrumentation really complimenting his lyricism and vocals. well worth checking out!


we found this album from a recommendation on Instagram, and we’re absolutely blown away by elucyve’s “Gentle Lunatic“! throughout the entire album there’s a sensational use of synthesisers and electronic elements, and the soundscapes and atmospheres present throughout are mind-blowing, consistently evolving and keep you wanting to hear more. during our first listen we were constantly entranced by such a range of instrumentation, unexpected production and seamless melodic quality – a contender for our album of the year list!


a firm favourite of ours on the scene, Pyncher have just released their latest EP “I Really Mean It This Time“! we’re huge fans of their infectious and energetic tunes, and this EP is a real show of their talent. with huge anthemic choruses, droney vocals and powerful guitar progressions, their ability to craft a singalong, feel-good tune is second to none. each track has a real individuality to it, and the flow of the EP is excellent – well worth a listen!


a familiar face for us on the Manchester scene, Emily Mercer has just released her new single “Read Aloud“! with a real relaxed, mellow atmosphere behind the track, it’s got a lovely pace to it, which compliments Emily’s vocal superbly, setting the scene for her to convey her emotion and feeling in exquisite prose, and not only does her talent lie in lyricism, her vocal melodies flow so smoothly across the track – it’s a gorgeous listen and such a fantastic show of her innate ability to create such raw, personal and emotive music!

The Wrap: May 2026 🌮

we’re back with our next edition of The Wrap! 💿

we’ve got reviews covering some of our favourite releases of May, and it’s been another incredible month of music! you can check out all of our reviews below ⬇️


Scottish songwriter Wave Of The Flood have just put out their debut album “FortyFive” – celebrating the 45rpm vinyl format, the album explores themes of love, vulnerability, and the human connection. Each song is exquisitely crafted, and you can hear the passion and care put into each of the tracks – with gorgeous instrumentation and intricate lyricism, it’s a lovely listen!


Country-pop artist Amy Jo has just released “Hold Your Horses” – a delicate and intimate track that relates to the theme of vulnerability and belonging, it’s got a lovely guitar melody throughout that really compliments the delicate nature of her vocal, which really shines through on this track, feeling like a conversation with a close friend. Such a fantastic track!


Liverpool-based indie-rock outfit White Ash have returned with their second single “Blue Skies“! It’s got a real infectious energy behind it, with a driving groove from the rhythm section, allowing for plenty of room for the vocal to take command, and with gorgeous guitar riffs throughout, anthemic singalong lyrics and a real feel-good energy, it’s set them as ones to watch for the year!


We were looking forward to this one for a while, as Mina My just put out her single “The Kill“. her ability to write a down-to-earth and grounded song is second to none, being able to convey feeling and emotion in a real poetic manner through music – and this song is real proof of that. it’s a driving yet intimate track with such a quality sense of dynamic within it, and it’s one on repeat for us!


Another familiar face for us, Nat Dempsey has just released his new single “Apparency“! we’re always in awe of his songwriting ability, with such a personal and raw emotional manner, and his guitarwork always effortlessly complimenting his lyrics – and this track sounds fantastic! it’s got a real sensibility to it, gorgeous production and a real intimate feel to it. an incredible new track from the Cumbrian songwriter!


Manchester-based blues-grunge outfit The Harlots have just put out their latest single “Mean Red Spider” – it’s got a proper no-nonsense attitude to it, opening up with huge guitar riffs and driving rhythm which set the scene for the track to balance into the main melody line, opening up space for the vocal to take centre-stage, preceded by a huge guitar solo and breakdown section – it sounds sensational, such a great listen!


Leeds-based alt-rockers Dulakes have just released their latest track “Thunderstorms“! following the release of their debut EP, they’ve attained a real following for their gorgeous blend of alternative, shoegaze and grunge, crafting their own dynamic sound, and this track sounds mega. at times it has an ambient feel to it, a spacey atmosphere that then drops into a real driving and flowing groove – all instruments working in perfect unison to truly convey real passion into their music!


Manchester-based dream-pop outfit Marie Franc have released their newest single “Pendle Hill“. there’s a real authentic atmosphere to this tune right from the start, haunting melodies and tones that set the scene expertly. the verses creep along with a proper groove, allowing for plenty of space for Rachel’s powerful vocal to take command of the listeners’ attention, there’s gorgeous melodies flittering throughout the soundscape, and the opening up to the grungier wall-of-sound drive invokes a real grandeur that truly escalates the track to another level. an incredible listen!

Indie-pop artist Mara Liddle put out her single “rivers” at the start of April! opening up with a moody guitar rhythm, it sets the scene for a flowing, dreamy track – and the drums and bass provide a lovely foundation for the tune. Mara’s vocal takes centre-stage, commanding the listener’s attention, and the reflective, honest lyrics reflect the moody setting so well, with a vocoder in the backdrop complimenting her vocals expertly. a lovely listen and we can’t wait to hear the full EP!


Liverpool-based indie/shoegaze outfit The Latrielles have just put out their latest single “Go Find Her“! the track right from the get-go utilises luscious synths alongside guitar melodies and patterns so effectively, and the drop into the main riff is quality. it’s got a real blend of influences but they’re able to pave their own sound – the vocals soar effortlessly above the track and the atmosphere of the track is second to none. a quality tune!


Grimsby’s alternative-rock quintet HEALER just dropped their new single “Save You“! we’ve covered their music a bunch in the past and we’re huge fans of their energetic, driving sound – and this track is no different. with a solid groove from the drums and bass, there’s ample space for the guitars to riff around the track, and the vocal commands right from the introduction. with anthemic choruses, huge vocals and quality instrumentation, it’s yet another banger under their belt.


another familiar face for us, Pyncher have put out their new track “One Day“! the tune’s got a real infectious energy, with a proper driving force behind it, paired with anthemic vocals that really ensure the crowd belting it back at them. it’s yet another quality track to their repertoire, and proves their musicianship and songwriting ability expertly. definitely ones to watch for the year!


Manchester-based, Portsmouth-raised alternative songwriter Wyse have just released their single “Steady Like The Sun“! blending a range of genres, to really create something they can call their own, this track feels reminiscent of 80’s rock, yet with a touch of grunge and 90’s alt in there. it’s got raw, and honest lyricism, ensuring that the audience can relate to them, and with gorgeous synths and instrumentation in the track, it’s a fantastic release!


we covered Chloe Charlotte’s previous single and were blown away by their talent, especially their ability to blend a range of influences, and this new single “IMMORTAL” furthers that even more! it’s got a dark guitar riff that resonates around the track, expertly complimented by the driving drum pattern, and sets the tone for the track superbly – with ferocious production that really brings the song to life. an incredible tune!


Halifax-based indie-punks The Light Show have just put out their new EP “Fighting With The Night“! blending 2000’s indie rock with driving punky riffs, powerful vocals and distorted melodies, they’ve got thumping tunes that are full of riffs, power and down-to-earth lyricism. it’s an incredible listen, both feeling anthemic and huge yet with a real gritty ear-to-the-ground sensability to it, a proper authentic sound.


Manchester-based alternative-rockers MALCOM have just dropped their latest single “God Ain’t Gonna Forgive Me“! we’re huge fans of these guys, their sound is so refined, blending gritty blues and rock with anthemic singalong alternative/indie – this tune is a proper indication of this. they’ve got a real raw and honest lyrical sensibility to them, and it’s matched expertly by their musicianship; all culminating in quality tunes that both are relatable and you can sing your heart out to!

Newcastle’s shoegaze icon Hannah Robinson returns with her brand new single “Ruining The Moment“, her first of the year! we’ve been big fans for a good few years now and her innate ability to write a track that’s anthemic, yet relays raw and honest emotion is second to none. with big guitar sounds, dreamy soundscapes and powerful vocals, it’s an incredible track and yet another superb song under her belt.


Liverpool songwriter Bunny Alex has just released her latest single “I’ll Be Alright” – we covered her previous single and are huge fans of her atmospheric dream-pop style. her raw and passionate lyricism is complimented by her ability to portray a conversationalist tone, setting her songwriting capabilities above the rest. the track has a real contrast to it, with a vulnerable and emotional lyrical tone, set to a dreamy, upbeat backdrop. it’s a gorgeous listen!


Manchester-based outfit Velez have just put out their debut single “Secrets“! we caught these live at the end of last year and we were blown away by their ability to captivate an audience with their musical quality. this track feels like a delicate conversation lyrically, and Cloe’s vocal flows effortlessly across the track, and there’s a luscious atmosphere behind it, with expert musicianship present throughout. the track has such a lovely groove behind it, and it’s definitely one to check out!


a familiar face for us, Rob Crampton has just put out his new EP “A Sweet Kind Of Sickness“! we’re huge fans of Rob’s songs, with expert lyricism that really paints a picture throughout each line, matched with delicate and lovely guitarwork that really compliments his vocal ability. this EP is real evidence of this, with four tracks that sound fantastic, and flow so well between one another to create a fantastic EP that will be a firm favourite for any fans of americana music.


Manchester indie-rockers Bayboards just put out their new single “Good For You“! we’ve covered their music a bunch in the past, and we love their driving, upbeat indie tunes – they’re always able to craft a singalong anthemic hit that will have any audience dancing around. this new single sounds mega, a tongue-in-cheek track with lovely guitar runs, luscious synths lacing the track and a proper driving groove to it. well worth checking out!


in the quest for his gig a day this year, Isaac Neilson has just released his new single “Falling Down“! we’re huge fans of his music, having reviewed it a bunch of times now, and his innate talent to create an anthemic tune is second to none. his songwriting style is quality, always so expertly complimented by the production on the track, and this tune’s got a fantastic flow and groove behind it that is only accentuated by his commanding and powerful vocal ability. another banger under his belt!


Warrington-based alt-rock outfit Punch-In have just put out their second single “This Is Not an Intervention“! this tune’s got a real drive behind it, blending a range of genres to create their own sound – and with honest and retrospective lyricism, it’s a quality track. there’s a real dynamic to the track with the downbeat vocal, yet driving and powerful instrumentation, a contrast that really sets the scene for this track until the final chorus where it opens up into a huge anthemic finale.


Manchester-based songwriter Mia Carmen has returned with her first single of 2026, “Crazy” – a real 80’s disco-inspired tune, with a gorgeous soundscape behind the track that sets a proper upbeat setting, with bouncing rhythm and luscious synths that really compliment Mia’s vocal, and shine a light on her songwriting ability. her direct and infectious lyricism is well-suited to the driving production of the track, and it sets for a proper singalong anthemic that’ll stay in your head for weeks!

one of our favourites on the scene, Lydia Prettyman has just put out her new single “Saint“! we’ve loved her previous releases, and her ability to convey a real story with her songwriting is second to none, and this track is real evidence of that; it’s got a gorgeous backdrop to the track, and builds effortlessly throughout – a real testament to her talent. it’s well worth checking out!


we had Creepy Crawly play a set for us last year, and we were blown away by her performance – her ability to write a captivating and quality track is second to none! her new single “Buttercup” here sounds incredible, it’s got a range of influences to it, yet feels fresh and new; a lovely feel-good tune that feels perfect for a spring listen.


another familiar face for us, we’ve covered By Wednesday’s music a bunch in the past and we’re massive fans of their tunes – and this new single “Ten Den” sounds fantastic. it’s got a gorgeous atmosphere behind the track, with shoegazy influence mixed with their signature alt/lofi sound; it evolves to have a real groove behind it with heartfelt songwriting that really sets them apart as ones to watch for 2026.


Manchester indie-rockers Adelphi have just put out their new single “Retrograde“! they’ve already got a great run of tunes behind them, and this song sounds mega – it’s got a real upbeat and driving flow behind it, and with powerful, commanding vocals, a huge rhythm section and anthemic singalong choruses, it’s sure to get a crowd going. well worth a listen!


another one of our favourites, Black Brunswicker has just released their new single “It’s A Long Way From Home“! we love their ambient, atmospheric, dreamy tunes – and this one sounds incredible. their innate talent to be able to craft a luscious soundscape is unmatched, and the use of textures and melodies really makes for an incredible listen.


Indie-rock outfit Gallaher’s Green have been on our radar for a good while now, and we love their no-nonsense, driving and powerful tunes. this new single “Whole Lotta Nothin’” is real proof of their quality, with a proper groove behind the track, driving guitars, and commanding vocals – it’s a fantastic listen and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got for us next!


we had The Marra’s perform for us last year and we were blown away by their quality, their tunes sounded fantastic and you can really hear the passion they put into each track – this new single “Night of the Vulture” is full evidence of that. it’s got a lovely guitar melody behind it, powerful rhythm forming the foundation and huge, anthemic lead vocals that really elevate the track. their songwriting quality is on full display here, a proper singalong track – we’re looking forward to seeing what the year has in store for them!


we’ve had Boxfires on our radar for a while now, and with their anthemic punk tunes, they’re making a real name for themselves! their new EP “A Broader Dispute” just came out, and it sounds mega – their sound is excellently refined, they’ve got a real identity to their music, with huge rhythm sections, singalong choruses and powerful guitar solos; it’s a fantastic listen!

Isaac Neilson returns with his brand new single “No Affection“! the alternative-rock singer-songwriter proves his innate ability to write a catchy, singalong hook with this tune, and his lyrical capabilities are on full display here with astute songwriting, painting a real picture – the drive and ferocity of the instrumentation and production behind the track really elevate this single to a new level. well worth a listen!


the new single from Bunny Alex “Ugly Crying” has just released, and it opens up with a dreamy and delicate soundscape, with a perfect coupling of soft guitar and vocal – and it builds so effortlessly throughout the track. her lyrical ability is on full display here, conveying raw and personal emotions into prose, and it’s a gorgeous listen from the Liverpool-based songwriter.


Manchester-based songwriter Kieran Arnold is back with his new single “Molly“! a familiar face for us on the scene, we’ve been huge fans of his music for a good while and this new track is a true example of why. his songwriting style is great, personal and intimate yet feeling conversationalist and down-to-earth. it’s a more intricate and calm track compared to his previous releases, and it’s great to see his repertoire contains such variety – definitely worth checking out!


Sheffield-based alternative-rock outfit Riviera have just dropped their EP “Desiderium“! you can hear such a range of influences right from the get-go, with sludgey guitar tones, driving rhythm and indie-rock-esque vocals. they’ve managed to carve a real unique sound for themselves here, and with that energetic, fierce tone to their music, alongside a real ear for luscious melodies, they’ve definitely set themselves as ones to watch for the future!


we’ve known Tuesday’s Girl for a good couple of months now having caught her perform live in Manchester a bunch, and she’s released her debut single “When I Was Your Age“! the track captures the live performance superbly, with a luscious piano tone forming the foundation, allowing her vocal to flow freely above, and the instrumentation perfectly compliments the track. her lyrical capabilities are matched excellently with the musical quality within the track, such a great listen!


Manchester-based alternative rock outfit Intake have just dropped their EP “Is This Still Real?“! right from the start, you can hear the ferocity and power that comes with their music, with huge guitar riffs, punchy rhythm and explosive vocals. there’s a real sense of urgency and excitement in their music, matched with a groove that gives a real drive to their music; it’s well worth checking out in full!


another familiar face for us on the Manchester scene, Toenails has just released his new single “The Party (Electric)“! we were massive fans of the acoustic version that was released previously, and this new variant sounds huge! it gives another perspective to the song, with a driving energy behind it, with the full band on it – it really proves his musical quality and also the variety of his talents. a brilliant tune and one to definitely check out!


we’ve covered Funeralcare a bunch in the past and they’ve just released their new single “Flimsy“! the track opens up with a gorgeous, moody soundscape, with a luscious guitar melody that’s complimented by a real groove within the drums and bass line, and the vocals flow with lovely melodies over the track. the track feels dreamy yet fierce, and it opens up excellently throughout, cementing Funeralcare as ones to watch for 2026.
