From the valleys of South Wales, emo folk singer-songwriter Alien Clouds (FKA Adam Carpenter) has been performing on the Manchester music scene for a few years now. After honing their skills through successful sets at major festivals including Glastonbury and 2000 Trees, they have gone on to release various EPs, culminating with the release of the debut album ‘Tidal Wave’.
Following the release of Adam’s fourth EP (January 2018’s self-released ‘Aviation Club’, following the story arc of Kiki’s Delivery Service), Adam worked with producer Michael Webster to release their first full length album. Having had time to sharpen their songwriting and perform alongside artists such as C Duncan, Nervus and Adult Mom, Alien Clouds selected 11 of their strongest songs yet into a cohesive collection, exploring themes of mental illness (Stilt Owl, Poison in the Water), insecurities (Inhale/Exhale, Free Therapy) and long-distance romance (Tidal Wave, Heal). Their songs aim either to help understand feelings and identity, or to have uplifting songs to remember when times are tough.
At the start of 2020, AC began to record the next EP released through Bread Records, ‘Obliterate/Ugly’. This EP was a collection of songs written over the past year, and really encapsulates their feelings and situation. The new EP ‘Obliterate/Ugly’ was released on the 8th of May 2020, and you can find it available for streaming on Spotify here, or purchase the new EP on Bandcamp.
