we’re proper made up to be able to host Halloweezer II in collaboration with our top pals Thunder and the Giants over at The Zombie Shack on the 27th October!

there’s gonna be a proper spooky lineup, with music from some of our faves here in Manchester, HWY and Nat Dempsey & The Near Strangers – plus, Thunder and the Giants will be performing too along with Peter Cat all the way from Glasgow! so stoked for this one.

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new release from the Manchester grunge outfit Mort Jardin “Dead Season“!

we’ve covered these guy’s previous releases a bunch now and we love their melodic, grungey tones that are present all the way through their tunes. their previous releases really set the tone for their music with introspective lyricism, monotonous vocals that really set the mood for their music.

this latest release sees them open up their sound somewhat, with some less distortion-y backdrops, yet still maintaining their original sound with huge guitar solos throughout and a real tight rhythmic background to tie the songs together! this is some of their best work yet, you can see the evolution of the band through their releases and this is well worth a listen for any fans of alternative and heavier tunes.

we had a proper superb one down at the Grafton Arms for our Toasted night on Saturday!

big big love to BARDS HWY and STRAY WEATHER who all absolutely stormed their sets, what a night great to put something on a touch heavier every so often, and we had a fantastic turnout too which was class to see especially in these quieter summer months!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the fantastic new single from The Seminals “All On You“! 🥖

following on from the release of their debut single “Peasants With Money“, they’ve come out with a no-nonsense track here that really puts them on the map as ones to watch for the future. 🤘 we love their indie-rock sound that takes from so many influences and genres, both of the singles so far have been boss!

exploding into the track with a huge guitar riff, it sounds huge from the get-go; and we love the massive energy of the track, so upbeat. the main vocal sounds amazing too, with that scouse touch in there to really show their roots! ⚡️ the chorus almost gives a massive contrast with the verse, having such a different feel to it and then suddenly pulling out a rude guitar solo before dropping back into the next verse. 😎

the energy of the tune only continues throughout, and the outro guitar solo has so much to it, really giving it a fresh breath of air – we can’t even imagine how mental this tune would sound live. might have to get them on for a gig at some point! 👊 keep your eyes out for these guys, two formidable tracks already and we can only imagine even more on the way!

Incredible to host Hit Like A Girl at The Peer Hat last Sunday! ☀️

we had such a boss one last Sunday over at The Peer Hat for the Manchester date of Hit Like a Girl / I Feel Fine UK tour!

big love to all the bands for performing, Hit Like A Girl were absolutely sensational – WYRES and Snake Parade smashed it too, fantastic supports and what a class one. hugely honoured to have been asked to have put this on, we love giving bands and artists the opportunities to grace the stage and especially when they come all the way from overseas!

Just The Crust 20/06/22: Nat Dempsey & the Near Strangers 🤘

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Nat Dempsey & The Near Strangers “Run and Hide”!

we’ve known Nat for a long time now, and he’s got such a fantastic discography to his name – so many great singles that sound absolutely fantastic. a proper talent here in Manchester and one to definitely watch out for, especially for his live sets!

opening with a real groove to the track, the drums and bass in perfect sync with one another – it starts with Nat on an almost deadpan vocal, suddenly opening up to a more melodic vocal line and building and building with each instrument until the chorus which is just explosive.

his lyricism has only got better and better with each track, this song takes a real inspection upon the state of the world and the influence that different figures have and how they all seem to contradict each other, yet don’t… we love seeing the stories behind songs and their meanings and there’s so much to unpack in this one, we’ll let you figure it all out for yourself though
