ahead of his mini-tour, culminating in a headline show here in Manchester at The Castle Hotel on the Monday 3rd June – it’s gonna be a belter, tickets available at https://fatso.ma/ZJhX – don’t miss out on what’s bound to be a fantastic night!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from William Cawley, “Regine/Or?” โ๏ธ
we covered his previous release towards the end of last year, and his upbeat indie-rock styling is great, reminiscent of surf rock and 60’s sounds; chock full of jangly guitars, vocal harmonies and singalong vibes. ๐
this new single is more of a downbeat, moody and atmospheric vibe – especially with the guitar tone, a more post-punk 80’s feel, yet still with the energetic drumbeat that we became accustomed to in his previous work. it’s a more direct track lyrically, a more ambient feel yet still full on and loud ๐ the breakdown at the end is like a lovely contrast to the rest of the track, and it jumps straight back into a final run of the chorus expertly.
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new EP from VALA “Fishing God“! ๐
we’ve covered VALA a bunch over the past year or so and we’re always blown away by the quality of their tunes, so many belters and they’ve got a super unique sound; and when we caught them live at The Deaf Institute they were incredible, a brilliant night. ๐
this new EP only continues this trend, with a couple of tracks that we’re already huge fans of, and a few new ones thrown in there too! their lo-fi indie pop sound is on full force here, with lush guitar tones throughout and feelgood upbeat vibes – set to a lovely laidback atmosphere. the opener “Change Your Mind” is one of the new ones, and it sounds incredible, a real show of their unique style. amazing! well worth checking out, a bunch of great tunes! ๐ถ
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Keddy Sowels “Reflection“!
a regular face here in Manchester, he’s been performing across the city at gigs and open mics and already has some lovely tunes out – well worth checking them out; and his brand new single here marks a different direction for the indie-rock artist. ๐ธ
“Reflection” is more of an electronic track, moving away from the guitar-based indie anthemic tone of his previous tracks, with synths and electronic drums making their way to the forefront of the tune – and with less singing, more rapping – it shows a different side to his music. ๐ถ still maintaining the political and social commentary of his earlier tracks, it’s a stark look at the state of current society.
today’s Just The Crust feature is the brand new release “A Moment of Clarity” from Black Brunswicker! โจ
we love Ethan’s music, always a pleasure to listen to it and we’ve had them perform for us a bunch – with spellbinding performances and such intrinsically crafted sets, they’re well worth catching live! ๐
this new EP is a fantastic show of their talent, with magical scenes and soundscapes throughout the full release, it’s a joy to listen to; so serene and peaceful, with gorgeous melodies leading the way on each of the tracks, and luscious atmospheres behind them – each element perfectly placed to balance to one another, proving Black Brunswicker’s ear for not only an effective melody, but also the knowledge of how to utilise what is next, and create a gorgeous backdrop for their music. an incredible release – one of our favourites is “Olde Magicks” – giving us rainy forest walking vibes! ๐
“Bleep Test“, our first release with the musical force that is Scatterchild, has been out for just over a month! ๐
we’ve had a fantastic reception to the track and we’re super proud to have another incredible tune out on the label. big love to everyone who’s been listening to it โ๏ธ
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new album from Chloe Hawes “Remains/Reminders“!
after a trio of fantastic singles from the album, they’ve released the full release and it sounds mega – mixing indie-folk with raucous americana and punk rock elements, truly making their sound their own!
you can tell right from the get-go that they’ve got a real ear for melody and creating luscious riffs in their music; and Chloe’s songwriting talent is on full display here, almost feeling like a conversation with them throughout each track. their music is raw, honest and personal – and fantastic to listen to!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Old Sun, New Moon – “Lay Your Burden Down“! โ๏ธ
we’ve had them perform for us a bunch over the past few years, consisting of two of our favourite artists collaborating to create something really special – every time we’ve caught them live, they’ve been spellbinding! ๐ซ
after their first few releases, they’ve come back to the first song that they performed live together – it’s a luscious track, and you can really hear the chemistry between Ethan and Tom; matching each other perfectly throughout the track, with a soft guitar melody and Tom’s rough vocal flowing superbly, and Ethan’s ambient tones lacing the track expertly – ebbing and flowing throughout, touching on elements of distortion and feedback, but being controlled so well throughout. Tom’s vocal sounds amazing here, and his songwriting capability is on full display with such intimate, raw and image-inducing lyricism ๐ค
it’s a fantastic tune, and it’s available to listen to on all streaming platforms, and you can purchase it on Bandcamp at https://oldsunnewmoon.bandcamp.com/music – well worth a download. ๐ถ

having released a bunch of already great singles over the past year or so, she’s made a name for herself with intricate pop melodies, delicate and intrinsic lyricwork, and taking influence from the likes of country, rnb and jazz – all whilst maintaining a unique styling that she can call her own. the latest single “Chimpanzee” dropped on the 22nd March, along with the full album! ๐ฟ
there’s a real sense of a conversation in each of the tracks, an intimate opening up of feelings and emotions – feeling like an effortless conversing between friends set to a luscious backdrop, consisting of pianos, guitars and a delicate production process; with a perfect balance to each song, complimenting the nature of each track superbly to ensure that there’s a real meaning to each of them. ๐ง
