the UK-based rock band have been making waves over the past few years, with their no-nonsense, driving energy to their music – their signature sound is complimented by their quality songwriting and expert musicianship, and we’ve had them perform for us a few times and they always blow us away with their stage presence and repertoire of incredible tracks! 🔈

this new album, their third, sounds fantastic, really showing off their musicianship, talent and songwriting abilities. there’s a plethora of quality guitar riffs, perfectly balanced by adept vocal melodies and singalong hooks that really capture the listeners’ attention. their diverse range of musical influences really ensures that each track feels different to the last, but maintains their unique sound. this is matched superbly by their lyrical depth, writing songs from a huge variety of influences, including love, grief, remembrance and friendship. it’s a great listen start to finish! 🎶

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Candlelight” from dulakes!

this is their fourth single of the year, and the Leeds-based alternative quartet have been making a real name for themselves in 2026, performing all across the North – we’ve covered their music a bunch, and we’re huge fans of their music, blending together a range of genres to really create something unique to themselves

this new tune sounds fantastic, opening with a moody guitar melody that really sets a dark, intricate atmosphere, and as the tune builds and builds through the verse, it emits a real sense of urgency within the soundscape which is expertly, explosively let out in a huge chorus. they’ve got gorgeous guitar tones throughout, with lead and rhythm working in perfect unison to give ample space for the main vocal to take command, ensuring control of the chaotic rhythm, bass and drums that work effortlessly to create not only a musically adept but ever-interesting and fresh feel to the single. another incredible release under their belts!

their first single in three years, the Nottingham trio have made a real name for themselves over the past decade, having played all across the UK and sharing the stage with names such as Michael Cera Palin and Crywank, selling out cassette tape runs of their previous EPs and cementing themselves within the UK DIY emo scene

the track sounds fantastic, marking a new era of more direct, emotionally charged material – opening with a driving guitar chord progression that flows excellently alongside huge drums and bass, giving a real energetic foundation for the vocal to take command over. the lyrics are raw and honest, we love how personal and conversational they are, spilling secrets and emotion, conveying both anger and vulnerability effortlessly. it’s a brilliant listen

the Manchester-based alternative-punk outfit have been making a name for themselves in the North West for the past two years, with their energetic, unpredictable performances and anthemic tunes. we’ve had them perform for us a bunch, and we’re always in awe of their excellent songwriting talent, with such down-to-earth and lively performances 👊

this single sounds fantastic, and having heard it a bunch at shows, we can safely say it’s captured the raw energy of their live performance 🥁 there’s proper driving energy behind the track, with a grungey bassline that accompanies a powerful drum pattern creating a proper solid foundation, and there’s a fantastic element of dynamic in the balance from the build-up to the punky, fast-paced main riff, building effortlessly throughout and maintaining a proper excellent flow right to the end of the track 🌙

the electro-pop duo have been making a real name for themselves over the past few years, performing across the North West a bunch and being selected as part of the 2025 Factory Sounds – and this new single, their first in two years, sees them explore a move into an era of feel-good, glitchy chaos 🙌

the track sounds fantastic, opening with a nostalgia-filled soundscape, with evolving electronica synths paired with dreamy vocal melodies, and the drop into the driving, fast-paced chorus feels like a real teleportation to an 80’s racing game. there’s a proper groove to the track, with a gorgeous bassline that’s paired with refined lead guitar melodies, all which come together so well to create a track that’ll be stuck in your head for days to come. 🎧

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Violent Thoughts” by Punch-in 🌠

the Warrington-based alternative rock outfit have been making waves across the North West as of late, performing at gigs and festivals over the last few months, and we covered their previous single on our The Wrap feature! 🙌

this new track, their third release, expands further on their sound, opening with a delicate piano melody that explodes into a punky, grungey riff, setting the mood for the song expertly, a track “about growing older and wiser, and the reckoning that follows through” – and with personal, intimate and introspective lyricism, it’s a real honest depiction of moving through life. there’s a lovely balance of dynamic in the track, and the flow is excellent, with quality builds and expert production throughout. it’s well worth a listen 🌠

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Skin” from Zara Smile! 🙌

we’ve covered Zara’s music a bunch in the past, and we’re always so blown away by their ability to write captivating, relatable songs that not only feel personal and raw, but have a real sense of purpose and intent behind them. we were a huge fan of their latest single “Better” and we’ve been looking forward to new music for a good while now! 🌙

this new single “Skin” is a direct parallel to it’s pop-punk predecessor, with a much more intimate and intricate nature right from the start, feeling much more of like a late-night conversation with a close friend. the track flows effortlessly, with the addition of vocal harmonies, swirling violin melodies, and a light yet grounded rhythm that allows the track to really breathe, giving ample room for Zara’s songwriting ability to shine. it’s a real testament to their musical ability, being able to convey true passion and emotion with such variety in their songwriting! definitely one to keep an eye on for 2026 🌠

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Turn To Crime” from Superfriends 🎶

we covered their previous EP “Superfriends Are Online” back in 2023, and we loved their energetic, infectious energy present within every track, and they’ve managed to translate and expand upon their signature sound effortlessly with this new release 🔈

the track opens with an upbeat and driving guitar melody, that really sets the scene for the track, yet with the energetic and jangly tone there’s a real contrast lyrically, with a stark and dark look at modern society. the track’s main hook “can I turn to crime, cause I want out of this sucker’s life” reflects a bleak outlook of the current situation, yet their ability to convey that anger and distress into a hopeful and positive energy is real proof of their musical talent. it’s a fantastic listen and we can’t wait to hear what else they have in store! 👊
