our Knead To Know feature today is the fantastic Tom Metcalfe Music! originally from Preston (we’ve known Tom a long time!) Tom has just moved to Manchester and is sure to be a familiar face on the local scene

not only writing his own music, Tom also works as a guitar tutor, teaching not only guitar but extensively music theory, which he is extremely proficient in – he’s easily able to make even the most complicated theory easy to understand for budding guitarists; we’ve spoken to him about all kinds of scales and he’s taught us a whole bunch!

he’s also a session musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer.. if you need anyone to jump in and help out on a track, get in touch with him! he attained a Master’s Degree with Distinction in Music (Performance) from Salford University last year with a record-breaking mark of 96! he’s often seen performing as a flamenco guitarist with dance accompaniment – definitely one to watch here in Manchester.

Tom will also be the featured artist tonight at Lions Den Bar Deansgate for Laura Farrow‘s open mic – come on down and catch him doing what he does, you’ll surely be astounded at his guitarwork! if you’re looking for a guitar tutor, get in contact with Tom for sure. one of the best around!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the first track from the new Anyone’s Ghost EP, “Nathan” we’re so amazed with the response to the songs so far and are absolutely made up that you guys are enjoying it!

we’re so proud of this EP. we worked with Wanda throughout 2020 to put this out, and from the get-go we kinda knew that it would be so beautiful. Wanda’s songwriting ability is simply insane, and with production from our michael webster we’ve managed to truly make something we’re all so proud of

We were a lil fed up of having all these amazing music submissions and not having space for them, so we’ve put together a lil ‘end of month’ Wrap feature to be able to bring em straight to you. 🤘 there’s so much great music coming out, so many gigs, so many videos – AMAZING stuff from the scene. 🍞

New video from Nottingham-based Bassey – a lovely chap who runs a radio show, helps promote local music and is a fantastic musician. This tune ‘Hollow Man’ is a real delve from his usual, but it’s super top. The video is amazing too, such lovely storytelling in it, definitely worth watching this piece of art. [Spotify / YouTube]

HUGE HUGE HUGE track from Scottish punks PERMO. Driving riffs, mad distortion, angry vocals. Got me screaming ‘Matryoshka’ all the time. Love the second verse – a real testament to songwriting. These guys are gonna be massive 🪐 [Spotify] [Courtesy of Disobedient Records]

FANTASTIC new music video from one of our faves, Tay Temple. Think burning hearts, lovely guitar melodies, and above all, a relentless desire to feel better and move on. Just SIMPLY heavenly. Toria Wooff is one of our favourite artists on the scene right now, a lovely lovely girl with bucketfuls of talent. We LOVE the 60’s country-folk feel here, kudos to Sloe Flower Studio for the work on this! Yet another classic in the Toria discography. Think June Carter and Stevie Nicks, but they’re in lovely sunny Bolton. One of the best! 🍷 [Spotify]

We’ve had a real lovely one writing up all of these. It’s refreshing to just go out on a limb and write about new music that we love – there’s so much out there just waiting to be snapped up and listened to. ☀️ all music and images remain copyright of their respective owners!

IT’S OUT! Anyone’s Ghost‘s new EP ‘A Good Winter in June’ is available to stream over on all good streaming platforms, and to purchase and listen to over on Bandcamp. it’s also Bandcamp Friday as well so all proceeds go to the artists!

we are super super proud of this EP, with some absolutely beautiful songwriting and lyricism by Wanda, produced up by our very own michael webster – this song here in the video is the third track, “re: December’s Traditions”; a massive sounding grungy folk song inspired by the likes of PJ Harvey Phoebe Bridgers and Bon Iver

proper loving this tune, a real great one from the Manchester post-punk outfit. they’ve had some great responses to their earlier singles, and this one proves they’re in it to push the boundaries of their music and keep growing as a band (which, you gotta love to see.) 😊
