Just The Crust 21/03/22: The Sewer Cats – Answer The Question πŸ‘Š

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from one of our favourites on the scene, The Sewer Cats with “Answer The Question”! πŸ‘Š

ever since we caught them live back in 2019 before the pandemic, and heard their debut EP “Zelda”, we’ve been massive fans of their ferocious energy, driving guitar riffs and no-nonsense lyrics 🀘 they’re a force to be reckoned with live, one of the loudest bands we’ve heard and they’re only a two-piece! absolutely fantastic to see.

this latest single sees them continuing in this fashion, with luscious feedback and distortion everywhere, guitar riffs that really push the track forward and some of the angriest vocals that we’ve heard Cass do yet! πŸ• really pouring the anger into this, it’s a real testament to the underground punk scene and a real declaration towards the actions of the government over the past few years. 🎸 we absolutely love the breakdown too, the riffs and melodies accompany the drums and lovely fills so well and it’s definitely one to check out for anyone who loves a good bit of punk/riot grrrl tunes.

you can find the full video over on YouTube at https://youtu.be/16j9eEGBY8A – well worth a watch, it really delivers on the impact of the track and another fantastic release on the TNSrecords roster! 🀘 you can also find the track on all streaming platforms as always!

Just The Crust 14/03/22: VALA – This Town β˜€οΈ

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new tune from VALA “This Town”! πŸ‘Š

we’ve had VALA on our radar for a while now and they’ve put out some incredible releases, they’ve got such a lovely unique sound to their music and the Manchester-based band have only been going from strength to strength with each release and gig they’ve played – selling out shows across the country, how boss 😎

this new tune is super lovely, a real indie-rock banger from the lads. the elements of lo-fi in the track really give it a personality and with lovely lyricism, a chorus that sticks in your head like glue, and string ensembles really complimenting the rest of the instruments, it’s one not to miss out on! 🀘 we love the bridge too with that autotuned vocal, really gives the track an edge and brings it into a lovely breakdown. fantastic stuff from these guys and released with the class talents of Shoplifters Union! 😊

you can find it on all streaming sites and that, on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/26tcWRMjTwUJks8fvo4JIs where you can also find the rest of their discography, and there’s a music video out soon on their YouTube! all going on, well worth a listen πŸ“Ό

Just The Crust 07/02/22: Novustory – Love Me Too β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from the fantastic Novustory “Love Me Too”! 🀘

Novustory have been tearing it up over the past few years in the North West, putting out a continuous stream of incredible singles, performing at huge events and even keeping at it throughout the lockdowns with livestreams, videos and even more! 😎

their connection to their fanbase is one we absolutely adore, they’re always keeping their audience involved with their music and merch, showing a real love of the support that people give them. πŸ₯° well deserved too as they are all super talented and some of the hardest working people we know!!

this new single “Love Me Too” is yet another banger to their name, a hard-hitting tune discussing the toxicity of the music industry and the “need” to make it in today’s music business. 🎸 a real top alternative rock tune, with elements of metal, pop and everything in between, they’ve outdone themselves with this release!

Imogen’s vocals transcend above the track, bringing the listener into Novustory’s world, really making a connection and then exploding into a huge wall of sound in the chorus – brilliant stuff! lovely guitar arpeggios carry the track, along with a rhythm section that expertly drives the track forward and forward, and the breakdown before the final chorus really sets a scene of calm before the storm of that huge, massive last chorus. amazing stuff from these guys. 🀘

the track will be released this Friday 11th of February and we’re super stoked to be able to have had a sneak listen to it. πŸ₯° you can pre-save it over at https://smarturl.it/novustory_lovemetoo – well worth checking out all of their tunes on their YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/c/NovustoryOfficial or on streaming sites! 😊

Just The Crust 17/01/22: HWY – Come Up πŸ™Œ

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the debut single from Manchester-based alternative rockers HWY “Come Up”! 🀘

exploding onto the scene with this debut release, they’ve really started out on a high! blending elements of punk, grunge, and alternative rock, they’ve really created a gorgeous and unique sound for themselves. it’s a must-listen for any heavier fans out there, but we reckon it’ll suit fans of any genre! β˜€οΈ

with gorgeous guitar picking throughout the track, hard-hitting and driving drumbeats, and then a lovely lead vocal that moulds the track together so well and really paints a picture with the lyricism, it’s a fantastic tune. 😎 when the chorus comes in, it really ignites the power of the track, opening up to a huge sound. the breakdown of the track is super lush too, mellowing out the track into a final eruption of their metal and alternative rock influence, dropping seamlessly into double time and really throwing the tune into overdrive. absolutely fantastic stuff from these chaps! πŸͺ

you can find the track over on their Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/2vwjiY3CQUtVvwLaXewiB0 alongside other streaming platforms, or the full music video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQU_S6efB4c – well worth a watch, really well done. definitely one that they should be proud of and we can’t wait to hear more from them! 🏡

Just The Crust 18/10/21: The Battery Farm – Dirty Den’s March of Suffering βœŠ

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new EP from The Battery Farm🀘

self-proclaimed “gutter punks” of Manchester, The Battery Farm have been tearing up stages for a few years now, with their energetic sets, driving tunes and formidable stage presence – they’re absolutely amazing live, every time we’ve caught them we’ve been blown away β˜€οΈ

the new EP features some of their previous singles this year, such as “Roy Keane Isn’t Real” and “When The Whip Goes Crack” – they toe the line between serious and having a laugh so well 😊 with huge, anthemic choruses and melodic and grungy build ups, these are definitely ones to watch on the Manchester scene. 😎

one of our favourites off the new EP is “I’ve Never Been To Gorton” – a proper tongue-in-cheek tune about the different areas of Manchester, with lovely guitar melodies throughout and huge choruses 🀘 lead singer Ben’s vocal sounds great on this too, showing his prowess as a vocalist – well worth a listen 🀠

head on over to Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/album/6jIL2W5c4AUeF83jVpZB4H to find the EP in full – it’s a proper lovely listen with some beautiful interlude tracks to really make it stand out as a full release! πŸ™Œ you can also find their music videos on their YouTube as well, “Roy Keane Isn’t Real” is a reyt good watch πŸ˜† looking forward to seeing where these guys go next!
