Just The Crust 31/08/26: Material Goods – BLACKOUT πŸ‘Š

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “BLACKOUT” by Material Goods πŸ’₯

the DIY industrial outfit have been making a real name for themselves in the North West, blending a huge range of genres to make something proper special. they’ve been on a bunch of shows lately and they’ve got a EP tour planned for September too πŸ‘Š

this single “BLACKOUT” is the second single from their upcoming EP, and it sounds huge – utilising textures, space and noise so effectively, they’re able to create a real sense of atmosphere through their instrumentation choice, and the dynamic behind the track results in exciting and fresh production that keeps the listener on their feet throughout the entire tune. blending mechanical noise, crushing riffs, and raw, honest lyricism, it’s a proper tune and definitely one to put on repeat! πŸ₯

Just The Crust 10/08/26: Pillow Fort – Codename Kids Next Year πŸŒ

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Codename Kids Next Year” by pillow fort πŸ’₯

their first single in three years, the Nottingham trio have made a real name for themselves over the past decade, having played all across the UK and sharing the stage with names such as Michael Cera Palin and Crywank, selling out cassette tape runs of their previous EPs and cementing themselves within the UK DIY emo scene πŸ‘Š

the track sounds fantastic, marking a new era of more direct, emotionally charged material – opening with a driving guitar chord progression that flows excellently alongside huge drums and bass, giving a real energetic foundation for the vocal to take command over. the lyrics are raw and honest, we love how personal and conversational they are, spilling secrets and emotion, conveying both anger and vulnerability effortlessly. it’s a brilliant listen πŸ’₯

Just The Crust 13/07/26: Punch-in – Violent Thoughts πŸ₯

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Violent Thoughts” by Punch-in 🌠

the Warrington-based alternative rock outfit have been making waves across the North West as of late, performing at gigs and festivals over the last few months, and we covered their previous single on our The Wrap feature! πŸ™Œ

this new track, their third release, expands further on their sound, opening with a delicate piano melody that explodes into a punky, grungey riff, setting the mood for the song expertly, a track “about growing older and wiser, and the reckoning that follows through” – and with personal, intimate and introspective lyricism, it’s a real honest depiction of moving through life. there’s a lovely balance of dynamic in the track, and the flow is excellent, with quality builds and expert production throughout. it’s well worth a listen 🌠

Just The Crust 25/05/26: GETNER – Motorman πŸŽΈ

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Motorman” from punk heavyweights Getner πŸ‘Š

we’ve caught Getner live a bunch of times, and we’re always so blown away by their stage presence, they’ve got huge anthemic tunes and their ability to hold an audience in the palm of their hand is second to none 🎢

this single is real proof of their talent, and it captures their live energy superbly, with a proper driving riff forming the base of the track, backed by huge rhythm that builds the foundation, giving plenty of space for vocalist Quentin to command the direction of the tune with his powerful vocal. the track addresses a lost British squaddie on the streets of Ireland during The Troubles, and whilst the track is lyrically superbly written, it also aims to educate listeners on a history that most may not know about. a proper quality tune πŸ₯
