our Just The Crust feature today is the brand new single from Jacob Reddy Music “Kings (Reloaded)”!

we did an interview with Jacob previously as part of our Knead To Know feature and his approach to music and creativity is simply inspiring – a real lovely lad with so much talent!

this new single is a rework of one of his previous releases – that came out just as the lockdowns were implemented so he’s fancied redoing it and it sounds fantastic! you can really hear the Frank Turner inspiration in this but he’s kept it to his own sound really well a massive tune about growing up and keeping to your roots – so well written!

the chorus in this is huge – we can really hear this one being belted out from the crowd at his gigs, his songwriting here is on point and you can really feel the intimacy of his lyrics in it – sounds absolutely brilliant, big things on the way for this young chap!

Just The Crust 04/04/22: Chris Tavener – Right Back Again ☀️

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Chris Tavener “Right Back Again” out now!

another in a long line of fantastic releases from Chris, this new single is sublime – with a touch of his usual witty lyricism and tongue in cheek style, he’s taking a slightly more serious note on this track, and he’s really crafted a lovely tune here!

resting on a bed of a lovely chord progression, his vocal seamlessly glides over the song, and the chorus sounds absolutely lush – we can imagine this to be a real singalong one over at gigs. the relaxed soundscape behind the track is gorgeous too, with luscious lead guitar riffs and piano melodies that really compliment his vocal super well here.

it’s really nice to see the variety here, moving away from his comedic and witty style (which of course we love!) to a more serious note – a real talent being able to manoeuvre through songwriting like this. well worth giving this one a listen, you can find it over on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/0Wqjp93HsOwxt4FyXQCYyY

this music video will also be out on Friday – it looks absolutely amazing and we’re really excited to see the full thing. make sure you head on over to his socials this coming Friday to be the first to see it!

Just The Crust 21/03/22: The Sewer Cats – Answer The Question 👊

21st Mar 202221st Mar 2022artist, bread, just the crust, local scene, new music, videoLeave a Comment

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from one of our favourites on the scene, The Sewer Cats with “Answer The Question”!

ever since we caught them live back in 2019 before the pandemic, and heard their debut EP “Zelda”, we’ve been massive fans of their ferocious energy, driving guitar riffs and no-nonsense lyrics they’re a force to be reckoned with live, one of the loudest bands we’ve heard and they’re only a two-piece! absolutely fantastic to see.

this latest single sees them continuing in this fashion, with luscious feedback and distortion everywhere, guitar riffs that really push the track forward and some of the angriest vocals that we’ve heard Cass do yet! really pouring the anger into this, it’s a real testament to the underground punk scene and a real declaration towards the actions of the government over the past few years. we absolutely love the breakdown too, the riffs and melodies accompany the drums and lovely fills so well and it’s definitely one to check out for anyone who loves a good bit of punk/riot grrrl tunes.

you can find the full video over on YouTube at https://youtu.be/16j9eEGBY8A – well worth a watch, it really delivers on the impact of the track and another fantastic release on the TNSrecords roster! you can also find the track on all streaming platforms as always!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new tune from VALA “This Town”!

we’ve had VALA on our radar for a while now and they’ve put out some incredible releases, they’ve got such a lovely unique sound to their music and the Manchester-based band have only been going from strength to strength with each release and gig they’ve played – selling out shows across the country, how boss

this new tune is super lovely, a real indie-rock banger from the lads. the elements of lo-fi in the track really give it a personality and with lovely lyricism, a chorus that sticks in your head like glue, and string ensembles really complimenting the rest of the instruments, it’s one not to miss out on! we love the bridge too with that autotuned vocal, really gives the track an edge and brings it into a lovely breakdown. fantastic stuff from these guys and released with the class talents of Shoplifters Union!

you can find it on all streaming sites and that, on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/26tcWRMjTwUJks8fvo4JIs where you can also find the rest of their discography, and there’s a music video out soon on their YouTube! all going on, well worth a listen

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new tune from Jack Critchlow “Runaway”!

Jack’s a singer-songwriter who has just moved here to Manchester from North Yorkshire and this is his latest single that came out earlier this week! he’s already got a wealth of music out on streaming platforms, having written since a young age and released music consistently over the past few years.

“Runaway” is a song blending indie with pop elements, almost dream-pop in parts, it sounds fantastic. his vocal effortlessly glides across the track, and we love the production on it, so minimalist yet sounding so great. the chorus is fantastic too, proper catchy and the lyrics are so personal and intimate, very apt for today being Valentines’ Day as well

we can’t wait to hear more from Jack, we’re sure he’s gonna be a force to be reckoned with and especially with more and more music of this calibre. head on over to Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/3E5qMpoEYsSXOPeTFzVS8q to check out his tunes – plenty for you to sink your teeth into!

Just The Crust 07/02/22: Novustory – Love Me Too ❤️‍🔥

7th Feb 20227th Feb 2022artist, bread, just the crust, local scene, new music, Uncategorized, videoLeave a Comment

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from the fantastic Novustory “Love Me Too”! 🤘

Novustory have been tearing it up over the past few years in the North West, putting out a continuous stream of incredible singles, performing at huge events and even keeping at it throughout the lockdowns with livestreams, videos and even more! 😎

their connection to their fanbase is one we absolutely adore, they’re always keeping their audience involved with their music and merch, showing a real love of the support that people give them. 🥰 well deserved too as they are all super talented and some of the hardest working people we know!!

this new single “Love Me Too” is yet another banger to their name, a hard-hitting tune discussing the toxicity of the music industry and the “need” to make it in today’s music business. 🎸 a real top alternative rock tune, with elements of metal, pop and everything in between, they’ve outdone themselves with this release!

Imogen’s vocals transcend above the track, bringing the listener into Novustory’s world, really making a connection and then exploding into a huge wall of sound in the chorus – brilliant stuff! lovely guitar arpeggios carry the track, along with a rhythm section that expertly drives the track forward and forward, and the breakdown before the final chorus really sets a scene of calm before the storm of that huge, massive last chorus. amazing stuff from these guys. 🤘

the track will be released this Friday 11th of February and we’re super stoked to be able to have had a sneak listen to it. 🥰 you can pre-save it over at https://smarturl.it/novustory_lovemetoo – well worth checking out all of their tunes on their YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/c/NovustoryOfficial or on streaming sites! 😊

Just The Crust 31/01/22: Harrison Rimmer – The End 🤘

31st Jan 202231st Jan 2022artist, bread, just the crust, local scene, new music, videoLeave a Comment

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Harrison Rimmer “The End”! 🎸

yet another fantastic release from Harrison, a great friend of the label here and such a brilliant musician with so much energy and drive, an inspiration for us here on the scene! 😊 we’ve seen him live a fair few times over the last few months and every single time he smashes it, one to definitely catch at a gig!

this new single delves into more of the punk and metal inspiration for him, with driving riffs, angry and powerful vocals and just such a drive behind the track, really hammering home that he’s here to rock and roll 🤘 the chorus sounds so massive and great lyricism all the way through as we’ve got used to with Harrison’s songs!!

we’re huge fans of the outro and breakdown in this track too – moving away from the other folky rock tunes, going into almost metal with drum fills all over, melodic power chords building up and harmonic notes pulled out of nowhere.. it’s brilliant! 🏵 a real indication of Harrison’s diverse talent, going from folky singer songwriter vibes to full on punk and metal madness. what a talent!

make sure you head on over and check out the track in full – you can find it over on his Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/1eJ8om60lDDNXsPujRvv6j or the full music video was released last week at https://youtu.be/hD1zM1gVZD4 😎 such a great talent on the North West scene!!
