we’ve had a lovely time over the past year hosting these, they’re been such a lush way for musicians to keep performing through lockdown but alas it must come to an end as next Tuesday (A WEEK TODAY!) we have our first open mic at the Grafton Arms ☀️

we can’t wait for this one, it’ll be weekly Tuesdays – find out more at Open Mic at The Grafton Arms!! 😊 there’ll be plenty of walk in slots, cheap and quality pints, food available to order and it’s all coming together nicely!

Knead To Know: Tom Metcalfe 🤘

our Knead To Know feature today is the fantastic Tom Metcalfe Music! originally from Preston (we’ve known Tom a long time!) Tom has just moved to Manchester and is sure to be a familiar face on the local scene ✊

not only writing his own music, Tom also works as a guitar tutor, teaching not only guitar but extensively music theory, which he is extremely proficient in – he’s easily able to make even the most complicated theory easy to understand for budding guitarists; we’ve spoken to him about all kinds of scales and he’s taught us a whole bunch! 🙂

he’s also a session musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer.. if you need anyone to jump in and help out on a track, get in touch with him! he attained a Master’s Degree with Distinction in Music (Performance) from Salford University last year with a record-breaking mark of 96! 😎 he’s often seen performing as a flamenco guitarist with dance accompaniment – definitely one to watch here in Manchester. 🐝

Tom will also be the featured artist tonight at Lions Den Bar Deansgate for Laura Farrow‘s open mic – come on down and catch him doing what he does, you’ll surely be astounded at his guitarwork! 🎸 if you’re looking for a guitar tutor, get in contact with Tom for sure. one of the best around!

find him on Twitter at @tommetcalfe8 // Instagram – @tommetcalfe // his new website will be coming soon at tommetcalfemusic.com too! 🤘

as always, find all of our features here on our website at www.breadrecords.co.uk 🍞

Best Independent Record Label FINALISTS! ✊

how amazing were the North West Music Awards from Red Spot Events the other night?! 🤟 sadly, we didn’t win, but to even be finalists alongside Jacaranda Records and Sour Grapes Records was absolutely insane. they’re doing some absolutely incredible work and we’re in awe to have even have been nominated. Congrats to Jacaranda Records for winning!! 😊

another big shout is to MILLICENT for winning best music video, James Holt for winning best solo artist and Waterloo Music Bar Blackpool for winning best venue! there was SO much talent nominated and we’d have loved to have seen everyone win, but that’s just the way it goes! 🖤

we just wanna say a huge thank you to Olivia Browse Adam Carpenter Music and Anyone’s Ghost – this isn’t possible without you guys, and running this label is a blessing to know all of you amazing people and help put your music out. I’ve been doing this on my own for a long time and it’s really awesome to see that the work I’ve been doing has been recognised like this. 🥰

a final thank you is to everyone who’s come to a gig, bought a piece of merch, listened to any of our music – you guys who support us really keep us going. this is the reason why I keep on at all of this, it’s often quite a hard thing to do, but the support of the community keeps me going. I try to keep the label and my own music a lil bit separate, but thank you all – a brief word from michael webster 🍞
