it was an absolutely blast making this up with Matchbox Productions, and we love how its turned out! also featuring some guest appearances from artists on Manchester’s music scene..
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Scatterchild “Tough Love”!
we’ve been a fan of Scatterchild for a while now, with their beautiful piano melodies, lovely soundscapes, Jay’s fantastic vocal ability and top songwriting this new song is yet another in a long line of great releases!
a more touching subject with this song, it deals with the harder parts of a relationship and the emotion conveyed in this track is sublime building from the start, it really pushes through the feelings that they’re trying to portray and as it travels through the track, it builds up and up til the end where it explodes into a massive outburst of energy and raw feeling! what a tune!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Bonfire Tide – “Romance Isn’t Dead”
the debut single from the Manchester-based outfit, this is a real indication of what’s to come from them! a beautifully put-together track, reminiscent of early 2000’s indie/folk nostalgia, Bonfire Tide have created a lovely soundscape for this track with waving guitars, almost angelic vocals and a driving rhythm. definitely one to check out!

it’s so fantastic to see not only things reopening and gigs going ahead again, but some of our favourite artists doing what they do best and bringing out some absolutely unreal tunes for you all to hear! ✨ check out our in-depth reviews below ⬇️
SHADER are back with their brand new single “Blackholes”! 🙌 filled with hard-hitting drum breaks, powerful and huge choruses and a lovely synth melody throughout, these are definitely ones to keep an eye on! A top guitar solo at the end, and we love the line “the world eats a weak man” – a real anthem for the lost youth. (SPOTIFY / YOUTUBE)
Manchester punks Supera Morza are back with their second single “Roadkill”! Following the mass success of “Scrubber”, this is a massive followup with the same unique energy we saw in the first single. Noisy, shouty, something to say.. what’s not to love about this? 🤘 We absolutely adore the DIY and grainy aspect of the video as well – gives it such a character! (SPOTIFY / YOUTUBE)
Sheffield-based folk-punk singer Steve J Allen has just released his latest album Contrast! Filled with powerful lyricism, controlled rage and outrageous guitarwork, Steve puts his energy completely into his music. 😊 lovely production throughout, especially in the intro of The Anchor – he’s got such a unique style that we completely hold our hands up to! (SPOTIFY)
Our favourite Tay Temple has just dropped her new single “Forbidden”, another single from her upcoming EP! ✨ a song of self-worth and reminiscence of past mistakes, it’s a message we should all take heed of… “it is forbidden, but we love it..“. We love Tay’s songwriting and this song is full of beautiful guitarwork, Tay’s band sounds so tight now and her voice sounds fantastic on this one! Making so many moves and the EP isn’t even out yet! (SPOTIFY / YOUTUBE)
We couldn’t not speak about this one could we? Our very own Olivia Browse has collabed with Szou to bring you a complete banger – definitely the sound of our September. 🥪 Fantastic production, hyperpop-feel goodness, amazing vocals and Szou’s verse is just absolutely top! One to blast before you go out partying, and then some more while you’re out! (Video coming soon… keep your eyes peeled!) (SPOTIFY)
Warrington-based indie rockers The A.V. Club are back with yet another class release! We loved their previous singles and this one doesn’t disappoint at all! ✊ With such a unique sound, synth-pop vibes in the chorus, this tune is such an innocent glimpse into the mindset of someone who’s falling for another – a lovely song from these guys who have been churning tune after tune for the past year or two! (SPOTIFY / YOUTUBE)
Another beautiful tune from Lea Willms – “Bittersweet” has such a fantastic aura surrounding it and the soundscape is simply gorgeous. Lea’s vocal sounds absolutely unreal – and the guitarwork is sublime and perfect for the song. Production on this is fantastic, really giving the track just what it needs ☀️ well worth a listen. (SPOTIFY)
Alternative rock vibes all around for this – we adore the 90’s influence in Sophie Li‘s sound here! Lovely lovely track, Sophie’s vocal is lush 😊 the band sounds so tight as well, lovely swing to the drumbeat and the bassline is on point. Fantastic stuff! Well worth checking out and we can’t wait for even more to come from the Liverpool-based songwriter! (SPOTIFY / YOUTUBE)
It’s so boss to catch so many amazing artists bringing out so much unreal music! 🙌 an absolute pleasure to be able to make these ones up and we catch so much new talent. There’s so many gigs and such going on now, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these guys!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Katie O’Malley “Devil’s Got A Hold”
we’ve known Katie for a long time now and with every release she only gets better and better! we loved the last few singles especially “Wild West” and “Taste The Dirt” and we’re absolutely blown away by how good this new tune is!
blending grungy, bluesy rock with her familiar country-esque singer-songwriter vibe, Katie and her band create a lovely gloomy atmosphere akin to PJ Harvey and Stevie Nicks the guitar work in this is absolutely gorgeous and Katie’s vocal sounds absolutely out of this world. the eruption into the chorus is massive – organs throughout are just lush, and it all fits perfectly together to give you a full on 70’s witchy nostalgia whilst maintaining that gorgeous sound that we’ve heard with all of Katie’s songs lately!
you can also get yourself ready for the full video premiere on the 6th October by heading to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YIo77j4tYM and setting a reminder for when it’s out! amazing stuff, definitely one to watch this year!
head on over to our website at www.breadrecords.co.uk to find all of our features, music, merch, gigs and even more!
our feature for (yesterday’s!) Just The Crust is the amazing brand new tune from Faux Pas!
absolutely top tune – lovely distortion, noise, chaos with so much going on.. modern grungy-punk anthems with melodic riffs, feedback, Ru’s amazing and powerful, direct vocals.. a complete tune! love the atmosphere of the outro with the chorusy guitar and that little distorted tone.. just lush!
Faux Pas are definitely ones to watch. having already played at festivals and got national radio play, we’re sure they’re going to make their imprint in UK music with the release of their upcoming EP ‘I Feel Pretty, So Should You’!
we’ve had a few technical issues today for our usual feature but not to worry, we’ll have it sorted for you this week!
in the meantime, we just wanted to highlight one of the top releases lately, Granfalloon‘s new album ‘Positive Songs’! we’ve featured a fair few of his tunes on the label but he’s put them all out on this album and it’s top!
think Beck, mixed with a bit of indie singer-songwriter magic with a dash of psychedelia – absolutely top stuff from songwriter Lomax. it’s well worth a listen! his lovely songwriting style with backing band behind him really takes his music to a new level, and it’s a real insight into the life of the creative. after the release of his second album ‘RGB’, Lomax was ready to hit up Europe on tours, had plenty of merch done, and suddenly a global pandemic hit.. this was the result of a weekly positive song-focused songwriting challenge he undertook! absolutely inspirational stuff!
head on over to https://granfalloonmusic.bandcamp.com/album/positive-songs to find the album in full to purchase either digitally or on CD – also all the singles are available to stream on all platforms as well if that’s your cuppa tea! well worth a listen!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Millie Milner Music “It’ll Be Alright”!
the fourth single from the Manchester-based songwriter, the single came out today! it’s a lovely reflective ballad about supporting a loved one throughout the trials and tribulations of the world out there hence the title!
the song is truly authentic and really gives you an insight into Millie’s world – each component of the track works so well, ranging from the piano melody to the guitar riffs throughout, and then Millie’s vocal is simply superb on this, with a lovely warm and inviting tone that is proper lush.
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new tune from Granfalloon, “Working On Your Own”!
taken from the new album “Positive Songs”, this song is a lovely folky rock ballad that focuses on the crazy life of shift workers, especially throughout the pandemic – it’s a lovely tribute to those in society who are often overlooked! really great sentiment of the song.
with a mellow soundscape, relaxed instrumentation and fantastic vocals from Lomax, it really sets the scene of his music and gives you a real insight into his musical ability. sounding great with his band!
