Just The Crust 04/11/24: Harrison Rimmer – Cold ๐Ÿ‘Š

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Cold” by the amazing Harrison Rimmer ๐Ÿ™Œ

a familiar face to us here, we’ve had Harrison perform for us a bunch over the years, reviewed loads of his music and we went down to the launch for his last album over in York, and were as ever in awe of his performance – one of the most committed musicians in the North West! ๐Ÿ‘Š

following the release of “Tough Love” back in July, this new single “Cold” continues with his proven songwriting record, his ability to convey his emotions superbly in his music is second to none, and he portrays this with style and quality – his ability to do this yet also maintain a singalong that’s catchy and sticks in your head makes him a standout talent here in the North West. ๐Ÿค˜ this track is more punky than his previous offerings, with the full band giving a real drive behind him; it sounds fantastic, yet another amazing tune under his belt. ๐ŸŽธ

the track’s available to stream on all streaming platforms, and there’s a full music video on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYiAUiFxVvE – go and check it out! ๐ŸŽถ

The Wrap: September 2024 ๐ŸŒฎ

we’re back with our latest edition of our The Wrap feature, with reviews of some of our favourite releases from last month, September 2024! better late than never! ๐ŸŒฎ there’s been yet another incredible month of music, with so many fantastic tunes being released, and we’ve covered just a few of them here! you can find all of our reviews below! โฌ‡๏ธ

West-Yorkshire songstress HerOrangeCoat released the second track from her upcoming EP, “Ballad 2 (Skin Off My Back)“! It sounds absolutely gorgeous, with melodic ukulele patterns forming the basis of the track, with her mesmerising vocal drawing the listener in, with raw, passionate and personal lyricism that really shines in this tune. It’s a delicate and expertly-crafted track, with lovely melodies throughout and a real edge to the performance. We can’t wait to hear the EP!

Manchester post-punk outfit Pomona just dropped their latest single “A Man Like Me“! Immediately from the get-go, the track has an incredible atmosphere, with huge drums, driving bass and ferocious guitarwork – and the vocal takes centre-stage as soon as it comes in! There’s a proper groove behind the track, the rhythm section working in perfect unison to keep the flow, and giving ample room for the guitars and vocal to compliment one another expertly – a proper banger, and we can’t wait to hear even more from them!

we’ve checked out Marseille a bunch this year, having heard of them through many different channels, and they’ve been going from strength to strength – the release of their EP “Godiva” here only enforces that claim even further. Winding basslines, chaotic yet controlled rhythm-work, lovely guitar tones and energetic tunes are in abundance here, high-energy tunes that give a real 90’s Manchester nostalgia, and soaring and powerful vocals take control of every track. A proper great listen for any fan of rock music!

Derby-based Sura Laynes just dropped another single, “Let The Good Times Roll“! A real anthemic rock tune, bringing elements of rock, indie and folk to the table, it’s a proper belter. There’s intricate and well-thought-out lyricism, there’s lovely guitarwork, gorgeous bass + drum patterns throughout, anthemic singalong choruses – incredible to hear! It’s only their second single too, so we can’t wait to hear even more from these guys – so much potential!

a familiar face for us, we’ve had The Dove & The Dragon perform for us a bunch over the past year or so, and her delicate, poetic storytelling is unreal – her ability to craft a song is second to none, and ensures an incredible live performance every single time. This EP “The Sun King” translates that live energy so well, with an intricate setting behind each track, ensuring the listener hangs onto every word, where you can bask in her lyrical brilliance – it’s a perfect encapsulation of her talent. Well worth a listen in full!

East Yorkshire-based songwriter Matt Crossland has just put out his newest tune “Above The Clouds“! We had him perform for us earlier in the year, and we were in awe of his quality on stage, and his prolific songwriter ability. This new tune is incredible, his vocal melodies perfectly balanced to the instrumentation, with a huge chorus that’s a proper singalong, proving his ability to create a quality track. Well worth checking out, and plenty of other tunes in his discography for you to sink your teeth into!

We’ve also known Sam Steele for a good while now, with such a unique upbeat pop feel to his tracks, descriptive lyricism that paint such a luscious picture – always a great one to catch live. This new EP “Far Too Pop” sounds fantastic, and translates his live performances so well into the studio, bringing a full band sound, very indie-pop vibes – there’s. real lovely optimistic element behind each of the tunes, you can really hear the chemistry of the band and it’s put together superbly! Well worth a listen!

A real jewel of the Manchester scene, Run Remedy has returned with the new single “Disciple“! We’ve had Run Remedy perform for us before, and her mesmerising performances leave audiences in awe, her lyrical and musicial capabilities are incredible to witness – this new single only proves this even further. It’s got a luscious backdrop throughout the tune, and the slow build throughout the first half of the track is done so well, dropping away to a really intricate and personal contrast – it sounds absolutely amazing. Definitely one to check out!

it’s been yet another incredible month of music, with so many fantastic releases, and there’s a whole plethora of talent out there that we didn’t get to cover! thanks to everyone who has checked this out, and we hope you enjoyed it! ๐Ÿค˜
