A big shout to each of the artists for letting us use their music for this – featuring music from:
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from the fantastic Novustory “Love Me Too”! 🤘
Novustory have been tearing it up over the past few years in the North West, putting out a continuous stream of incredible singles, performing at huge events and even keeping at it throughout the lockdowns with livestreams, videos and even more! 😎
their connection to their fanbase is one we absolutely adore, they’re always keeping their audience involved with their music and merch, showing a real love of the support that people give them. 🥰 well deserved too as they are all super talented and some of the hardest working people we know!!
this new single “Love Me Too” is yet another banger to their name, a hard-hitting tune discussing the toxicity of the music industry and the “need” to make it in today’s music business. 🎸 a real top alternative rock tune, with elements of metal, pop and everything in between, they’ve outdone themselves with this release!
Imogen’s vocals transcend above the track, bringing the listener into Novustory’s world, really making a connection and then exploding into a huge wall of sound in the chorus – brilliant stuff! lovely guitar arpeggios carry the track, along with a rhythm section that expertly drives the track forward and forward, and the breakdown before the final chorus really sets a scene of calm before the storm of that huge, massive last chorus. amazing stuff from these guys. 🤘
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the debut single from Manchester-based alternative rockers HWY “Come Up”!
exploding onto the scene with this debut release, they’ve really started out on a high! blending elements of punk, grunge, and alternative rock, they’ve really created a gorgeous and unique sound for themselves. it’s a must-listen for any heavier fans out there, but we reckon it’ll suit fans of any genre!
with gorgeous guitar picking throughout the track, hard-hitting and driving drumbeats, and then a lovely lead vocal that moulds the track together so well and really paints a picture with the lyricism, it’s a fantastic tune. when the chorus comes in, it really ignites the power of the track, opening up to a huge sound. the breakdown of the track is super lush too, mellowing out the track into a final eruption of their metal and alternative rock influence, dropping seamlessly into double time and really throwing the tune into overdrive. absolutely fantastic stuff from these chaps!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new EP from The Battery Farm
self-proclaimed “gutter punks” of Manchester, The Battery Farm have been tearing up stages for a few years now, with their energetic sets, driving tunes and formidable stage presence – they’re absolutely amazing live, every time we’ve caught them we’ve been blown away
the new EP features some of their previous singles this year, such as “Roy Keane Isn’t Real” and “When The Whip Goes Crack” – they toe the line between serious and having a laugh so well with huge, anthemic choruses and melodic and grungy build ups, these are definitely ones to watch on the Manchester scene.
one of our favourites off the new EP is “I’ve Never Been To Gorton” – a proper tongue-in-cheek tune about the different areas of Manchester, with lovely guitar melodies throughout and huge choruses lead singer Ben’s vocal sounds great on this too, showing his prowess as a vocalist – well worth a listen
head on over to Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/album/6jIL2W5c4AUeF83jVpZB4H to find the EP in full – it’s a proper lovely listen with some beautiful interlude tracks to really make it stand out as a full release! you can also find their music videos on their YouTube as well, “Roy Keane Isn’t Real” is a reyt good watch looking forward to seeing where these guys go next!

our feature for (yesterday’s!) Just The Crust is the amazing brand new tune from Faux Pas!
absolutely top tune – lovely distortion, noise, chaos with so much going on.. modern grungy-punk anthems with melodic riffs, feedback, Ru’s amazing and powerful, direct vocals.. a complete tune! love the atmosphere of the outro with the chorusy guitar and that little distorted tone.. just lush!
Faux Pas are definitely ones to watch. having already played at festivals and got national radio play, we’re sure they’re going to make their imprint in UK music with the release of their upcoming EP ‘I Feel Pretty, So Should You’!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from the amazing YNES “God’s Little Punching Bag”!
returning with yet another lovely tune, YNES has been making waves across the Midlands with brit-pop fused indie rock tunes and this song is one of our favourites yet!!
with upbeat guitarwork, self-conscious lyricism and witty humour throughout, this song is an anthem of a doomed youth – a proper tune that will stick in your head for ages. definitely one to watch, we wouldn’t be surprised if YNES was headlining stages across the UK at all! another fantastic release from Grrrlgroannn!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from The Rotanas “Get The Call”!
based down in Cardiff, The Rotanas are an energetic britpop band who have been on the rise for a few years now – they’ve got a great discography now and have been headlining stages and even did a headline tour back in 2019
when we heard this new single we defo knew we wanted to feature it – with a real 90’s atmosphere to it, it fills you with a proper sense of nostalgia for those older times we love the guitar riffs throughout, you can tell that these guys are gonna be huge!
listen to the tune in full over on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/album/09NZyo53yCARmntnu8Uy22 – drop them a follow, check out their previous tunes and keep your eyes peeled for these guys! can’t wait for more!

here’s our second instalment of our BRAND NEW FEATURE: The Wrap 🪐 our last one in May was a proper lovely one and we’ve got EVEN more amazing music and videos here for you to check out!!
this is mostly compromised up of artists’ music that we weren’t able to cover during the last month – but nevertheless still definitely worth a shout out! 😊 so much going on now that things are reopening, a fantastic time for underground and grassroots music! 🤘
Class new tune from Pizza Crunch, “Celexa”! Love the aggressiveness of that distortion, and a lovely chorus line to go too. For fans of 90’s alternative / punk, big riffs, driving basslines and punchy drums. Boss! [Spotify] [Released by Disobedient Records]
IORA‘s new tune “Find Me” is a lovely electronic exploration into IORA’s sound. With a mesmerising video, and lush synthesisers throughout, definitely one to be blasting from your rooftops. Brilliant catchy chorus – huge vibes from this. Loving the backing vocals and harmonies too, especially in the bridge! [Spotify / YouTube]
Absolutely GORGEOUS track from Manchester-based producer, songwriter and artist SZOU. Love the entire vibe of this – a positive, uplifting pop/electronica tune with some absolutely lovely instrumentation, production and just an entire flex of SZOU’s ability for crafting music. Hugely one to watch! [Spotify] [Released by No Such Thing Records]
Found this one from a recommended video and it REALLY stood out to me. Such a lovely laid-back atmosphere to the track, with a beautiful guitar progression, and slowly building to just a fantastic jazz-inspired ballad of self-expression and focus. Perfect for accompaniment with your morning coffee 🥪 and also, the video perfectly fits the track. Fantastic stuff from Rhona Stevens! [Spotify / YouTube]
Lovely new EP from Blacksheeplad, a regular on our lil virtual open mic (fondly remembered 💔) it’s fantastic to hear all of these songs in studio format now, after hearing the progression of them live – plus, with his full band now, Phil really has been able to come into his own as an artist and expand his sound. Definitely worth a listen! [Spotify]
Lovely lovely tune from Glaswegian punks Book Klub – proper dirty, proper post-punk and proper class video accompanying the tune. Love the moody vibe of the track, and suddenly it erupts into the chorus and throws so much at you – only to drop back into reverby goodness of guitar resonance. Keep an eye out for these guys, they’re definitely gonna be packing out some dirty basement venues soon and we can not wait. 🍻 [Spotify / YouTube] [Released by Disobedient Records]
Lovely acoustic tune from Yorkshire-based songwriter Eli Rivers. A reflective song, with some lovely image-inducing songwriting and a lovely guitar line that simply adds a great flavour to the track. With a great video to go alongside it, this is essential listening for any folk and singer-songwriter fans in the North. Eli played our last virtual open mic and smashed it, too! [Spotify / YouTube]
Fantastic tune from North West-based indie outfit MCRAE! A huge tune, with massive vocals, lovely guitar tones, a simply fantastically well-crafted song that these lads will be absolutely made up with. Also, with a bloody fantastic break in it – a beautiful guitar line, with demanding and powerful lyrics, building up and up until a conclusive ending. Keep your eyes peeled for these lads, going to be making waves ✊ [Spotify / Video on FB]
Some ABSOLUTELY incredible tunes out this month, and realistically, we’ve barely even scratched the surface here.
