Just The Crust 13/07/26: Punch-in – Violent Thoughts ๐Ÿฅ

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Violent Thoughts” by Punch-in ๐ŸŒ

the Warrington-based alternative rock outfit have been making waves across the North West as of late, performing at gigs and festivals over the last few months, and we covered their previous single on our The Wrap feature! ๐Ÿ™Œ

this new track, their third release, expands further on their sound, opening with a delicate piano melody that explodes into a punky, grungey riff, setting the mood for the song expertly, a track “about growing older and wiser, and the reckoning that follows through” – and with personal, intimate and introspective lyricism, it’s a real honest depiction of moving through life. there’s a lovely balance of dynamic in the track, and the flow is excellent, with quality builds and expert production throughout. it’s well worth a listen ๐ŸŒ

Just The Crust 06/07/26: Zara Smile – Skin ๐ŸŽถ

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Skin” from Zara Smile! ๐Ÿ™Œ

we’ve covered Zara’s music a bunch in the past, and we’re always so blown away by their ability to write captivating, relatable songs that not only feel personal and raw, but have a real sense of purpose and intent behind them. we were a huge fan of their latest single “Better” and we’ve been looking forward to new music for a good while now! ๐ŸŒ™

this new single “Skin” is a direct parallel to it’s pop-punk predecessor, with a much more intimate and intricate nature right from the start, feeling much more of like a late-night conversation with a close friend. the track flows effortlessly, with the addition of vocal harmonies, swirling violin melodies, and a light yet grounded rhythm that allows the track to really breathe, giving ample room for Zara’s songwriting ability to shine. it’s a real testament to their musical ability, being able to convey true passion and emotion with such variety in their songwriting! definitely one to keep an eye on for 2026 ๐ŸŒ

Scottish songwriter Wave Of The Flood have just put out their debut album “FortyFive” – celebrating the 45rpm vinyl format, the album explores themes of love, vulnerability, and the human connection. Each song is exquisitely crafted, and you can hear the passion and care put into each of the tracks – with gorgeous instrumentation and intricate lyricism, it’s a lovely listen!

Country-pop artist Amy Jo has just released “Hold Your Horses” – a delicate and intimate track that relates to the theme of vulnerability and belonging, it’s got a lovely guitar melody throughout that really compliments the delicate nature of her vocal, which really shines through on this track, feeling like a conversation with a close friend. Such a fantastic track!

Liverpool-based indie-rock outfit White Ash have returned with their second single “Blue Skies“! It’s got a real infectious energy behind it, with a driving groove from the rhythm section, allowing for plenty of room for the vocal to take command, and with gorgeous guitar riffs throughout, anthemic singalong lyrics and a real feel-good energy, it’s set them as ones to watch for the year!

We were looking forward to this one for a while, as Mina My just put out her single “The Kill“. her ability to write a down-to-earth and grounded song is second to none, being able to convey feeling and emotion in a real poetic manner through music – and this song is real proof of that. it’s a driving yet intimate track with such a quality sense of dynamic within it, and it’s one on repeat for us!

Another familiar face for us, Nat Dempsey has just released his new single “Apparency“! we’re always in awe of his songwriting ability, with such a personal and raw emotional manner, and his guitarwork always effortlessly complimenting his lyrics – and this track sounds fantastic! it’s got a real sensibility to it, gorgeous production and a real intimate feel to it. an incredible new track from the Cumbrian songwriter!

Manchester-based blues-grunge outfit The Harlots have just put out their latest single “Mean Red Spider” – it’s got a proper no-nonsense attitude to it, opening up with huge guitar riffs and driving rhythm which set the scene for the track to balance into the main melody line, opening up space for the vocal to take centre-stage, preceded by a huge guitar solo and breakdown section – it sounds sensational, such a great listen!

Leeds-based alt-rockers Dulakes have just released their latest track “Thunderstorms“! following the release of their debut EP, they’ve attained a real following for their gorgeous blend of alternative, shoegaze and grunge, crafting their own dynamic sound, and this track sounds mega. at times it has an ambient feel to it, a spacey atmosphere that then drops into a real driving and flowing groove – all instruments working in perfect unison to truly convey real passion into their music!

Manchester-based dream-pop outfit Marie Franc have released their newest single “Pendle Hill“. there’s a real authentic atmosphere to this tune right from the start, haunting melodies and tones that set the scene expertly. the verses creep along with a proper groove, allowing for plenty of space for Rachel’s powerful vocal to take command of the listeners’ attention, there’s gorgeous melodies flittering throughout the soundscape, and the opening up to the grungier wall-of-sound drive invokes a real grandeur that truly escalates the track to another level. an incredible listen!

Just The Crust 29/06/26: Superfriends – Turn To Crime ๐ŸŒ™

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Turn To Crime” from Superfriends ๐ŸŽถ

we covered their previous EP “Superfriends Are Online” back in 2023, and we loved their energetic, infectious energy present within every track, and they’ve managed to translate and expand upon their signature sound effortlessly with this new release ๐Ÿ”ˆ

the track opens with an upbeat and driving guitar melody, that really sets the scene for the track, yet with the energetic and jangly tone there’s a real contrast lyrically, with a stark and dark look at modern society. the track’s main hook “can I turn to crime, cause I want out of this sucker’s life” reflects a bleak outlook of the current situation, yet their ability to convey that anger and distress into a hopeful and positive energy is real proof of their musical talent. it’s a fantastic listen and we can’t wait to hear what else they have in store! ๐Ÿ‘Š

you can find the track on all streaming platforms, and there’s a full music video available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/ZwADQNjGGhs ๐ŸŽง
