taking a more laid-back approach compared to previous singles, Scatterchild have created a lovely relaxing atmosphere in which Jay’s vocal sits perfectly and really portrays the image of what he’s trying to say. building throughout the track, the instrumentation is really balanced well, and really creates a sound that you can get lost in. ☀️ definitely one for those rainy Manchester evenings with a glass of wine!

this is mostly compromised up of artists’ music that we weren’t able to cover during the last month – but nevertheless still definitely worth a shout out! 😊 so much going on now that things are reopening, a fantastic time for underground and grassroots music! 🤘

Class new tune from Pizza Crunch, “Celexa”! Love the aggressiveness of that distortion, and a lovely chorus line to go too. For fans of 90’s alternative / punk, big riffs, driving basslines and punchy drums. Boss! [Spotify] [Released by Disobedient Records]

IORA‘s new tune “Find Me” is a lovely electronic exploration into IORA’s sound. With a mesmerising video, and lush synthesisers throughout, definitely one to be blasting from your rooftops. Brilliant catchy chorus – huge vibes from this. Loving the backing vocals and harmonies too, especially in the bridge! [Spotify / YouTube]

Absolutely GORGEOUS track from Manchester-based producer, songwriter and artist SZOU. Love the entire vibe of this – a positive, uplifting pop/electronica tune with some absolutely lovely instrumentation, production and just an entire flex of SZOU’s ability for crafting music. Hugely one to watch! [Spotify] [Released by No Such Thing Records]

Found this one from a recommended video and it REALLY stood out to me. Such a lovely laid-back atmosphere to the track, with a beautiful guitar progression, and slowly building to just a fantastic jazz-inspired ballad of self-expression and focus. Perfect for accompaniment with your morning coffee 🥪 and also, the video perfectly fits the track. Fantastic stuff from Rhona Stevens! [Spotify / YouTube]

Lovely new EP from Blacksheeplad, a regular on our lil virtual open mic (fondly remembered 💔) it’s fantastic to hear all of these songs in studio format now, after hearing the progression of them live – plus, with his full band now, Phil really has been able to come into his own as an artist and expand his sound. Definitely worth a listen! [Spotify]

Lovely lovely tune from Glaswegian punks Book Klub – proper dirty, proper post-punk and proper class video accompanying the tune. Love the moody vibe of the track, and suddenly it erupts into the chorus and throws so much at you – only to drop back into reverby goodness of guitar resonance. Keep an eye out for these guys, they’re definitely gonna be packing out some dirty basement venues soon and we can not wait. 🍻 [Spotify / YouTube] [Released by Disobedient Records]

Lovely acoustic tune from Yorkshire-based songwriter Eli Rivers. A reflective song, with some lovely image-inducing songwriting and a lovely guitar line that simply adds a great flavour to the track. With a great video to go alongside it, this is essential listening for any folk and singer-songwriter fans in the North. Eli played our last virtual open mic and smashed it, too! [Spotify / YouTube]

Fantastic tune from North West-based indie outfit MCRAE! A huge tune, with massive vocals, lovely guitar tones, a simply fantastically well-crafted song that these lads will be absolutely made up with. Also, with a bloody fantastic break in it – a beautiful guitar line, with demanding and powerful lyrics, building up and up until a conclusive ending. Keep your eyes peeled for these lads, going to be making waves ✊ [Spotify / Video on FB]

Some ABSOLUTELY incredible tunes out this month, and realistically, we’ve barely even scratched the surface here. There’s so much to find, and with gigs coming back now – you’re sure that there’ll be even more on the way! Fantastic stuff. New FEATURE: The Wrap – May 2021 🥪

We’ve got ourselves a BRAND NEW FEATURE. We were a lil fed up of having all these amazing music submissions and not having space for them, so we’ve put together a lil ‘end of month’ Wrap feature to be able to bring em straight to you. 🤘 there’s so much great music coming out, so many gigs, so many videos – AMAZING stuff from the scene. 🍞

Brand new video for the collaborative single “Your Time” from Abi Rose Kelly and Marcus Man – we’re massive fans of these guys. Such a great song, and the parallels in this video are just stunning. Fantastic work from them! 🤘 [Spotify / YouTube] [Recorded by Matchbox Productions]

New video from Nottingham-based Bassey – a lovely chap who runs a radio show, helps promote local music and is a fantastic musician. This tune ‘Hollow Man’ is a real delve from his usual, but it’s super top. The video is amazing too, such lovely storytelling in it, definitely worth watching this piece of art. [Spotify / YouTube]

HUGE HUGE HUGE track from Scottish punks PERMO. Driving riffs, mad distortion, angry vocals. Got me screaming ‘Matryoshka’ all the time. Love the second verse – a real testament to songwriting. These guys are gonna be massive 🪐 [Spotify] [Courtesy of Disobedient Records]

Live video from the Myoto boys, for their debut single ‘Wanted Man’. They’re a real mellow, chilled, upcoming band from Manchester – we can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned. This tune is a proper summery anthem, definitely worth a listen! [Spotify / YouTube] [Recorded at Dock10 Studios]

FANTASTIC new music video from one of our faves, Tay Temple. Think burning hearts, lovely guitar melodies, and above all, a relentless desire to feel better and move on. A massive positive anthem for all those in need right now. You can never go wrong with our Tay 💫 (ps that guitar riff. Jordi, stop it. you’re too good) [Spotify / YouTube] [Recorded by Matchbox Productions]

Absolutely insane debut single from Peacock Method. Super 80s, super groovy, super sunny. Expect to see these guys on stages soon! Really looking forward to what they’ve got planned for the future! (Ps, this video is lush as anything. [Spotify / YouTube] [Directed by Bloody Bandit Productions]

Scottish punks The Riot Vans put out a proper banger here. That intro riff is banging, and then the driving riffs throughout, drums balancing it all, and then so much energy throughout. Definitely worth a listen here, and we love the artwork. 🤘 [Spotify] [Courtesy of Disobedient Records]

Just SIMPLY heavenly. Toria Wooff is one of our favourite artists on the scene right now, a lovely lovely girl with bucketfuls of talent. We LOVE the 60’s country-folk feel here, kudos to Sloe Flower Studio for the work on this! Yet another classic in the Toria discography. Think June Carter and Stevie Nicks, but they’re in lovely sunny Bolton. One of the best! 🍷 [Spotify]

We’ve had a real lovely one writing up all of these. It’s refreshing to just go out on a limb and write about new music that we love – there’s so much out there just waiting to be snapped up and listened to. ☀️ all music and images remain copyright of their respective owners!
