our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Jacob Reddy Music “Wear The Crown“!
a familiar face on the North West scene, Jacob played a headline show at The Deaf Institute at the start of the year – we went down and were seriously impressed by his tunes and ability to keep a crowd entertained. we love his songwriting style and he’s been making absolute waves over the past few years!
this new tune sounds proper mega, really showing off his prowess as a songwriter, and his ability to convey his emotions into lyrical form whilst maintaining a lovely prose to it all – the feel of the track is super upbeat and it flows so well, a lovely groove behind it and really translating his live energy into a studio setting. the track is anthemic, real lovely singalong atmosphere to it; whilst with a real optimistic attitude behind it too! great stuff.
we are absolutely blown away by all your guys reception to Anyone’s Ghost “The Secret History” so much lovely feedback and we hit over 1k streams on Spotify in less than a week!!
plus, we had an absolute BLAST at The Peer Hat on Tuesday performing the first full band set for Latex Sounds – big love to everyone who came down and made it such a special night.
there’s only a week to go til we’re down at the Grafton Arms and we welcome Ed Barnes and Blake Cateris from Australia, on their UK tour!
we’ve been looking forward to this one for a while, caught some of the action from the shows that have already gone ahead for them and properly can’t wait to catch them perform for us – plus with support from Arms & Hearts and Max Macmillan, it’s bound to be a belter.
Manchester’s own Luna Marble have returned with their brand new single “Mad World” 💫 we were huge fans of their previous singles “Running” and “All of my Love“, really cementing them as ones to watch in the North West with their huge 70’s inspired sound, massive guitar riffs and a gorgeous chemistry connecting the band to really bring out the best of their music. We had them perform for us back last year at the Grafton Arms as part of our “Toasted” event and they were sensational, their stage presence and musicianship was super inspiring – a fantastic band and ones not to miss out on.
This new single sees them take a step back from their signature energetic sound that oozes from their earlier releases, and go down a more psychedelic and relaxed path – but still maintaining their groove and anthemic atmosphere. 🤘 starting out with an ethereal piano line, laced with cymbal-work and a gorgeous guitar melody, it sets the stage for the feel of the track right from the beginning. Maria’s vocals glide effortlessly above the instrumentation, enchanting the listener with her viscous and delicate tone. The rhythm works perfectly in unison here, with the bass and drums giving the track a lovely flow that is a perfect fit to the feel of the tune – holding it together superbly.
Traversing into the chorus, the track shows reflections of Luna Marble’s signature sound, with a dream-like, anthemic hook; showing off Maria’s incredible vocal capability, the track opening up to a real stadium rock atmosphere, reminiscent of 70’s classic rock acts. The guitar solo is absolutely stunning, a perfectly balanced riff that only accentuates the feeling conveyed in the song, through Maria’s lyrics – powerful, and no-nonsense, describing the hardships she’s felt within the music industry as a woman performing in a very male-dominated genre. The final chorus really explodes in with all of the passion put into this track – it’s a fantastic release from these guys, we’re amazed by the quality that they’ve got on show here! 👊
