our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new EP from VALA “Fishing God“! 👊
we’ve covered VALA a bunch over the past year or so and we’re always blown away by the quality of their tunes, so many belters and they’ve got a super unique sound; and when we caught them live at The Deaf Institute they were incredible, a brilliant night. 😊
this new EP only continues this trend, with a couple of tracks that we’re already huge fans of, and a few new ones thrown in there too! their lo-fi indie pop sound is on full force here, with lush guitar tones throughout and feelgood upbeat vibes – set to a lovely laidback atmosphere. the opener “Change Your Mind” is one of the new ones, and it sounds incredible, a real show of their unique style. amazing! well worth checking out, a bunch of great tunes! 🎶
come on down from 1pm to catch all the action, free entry, quality drinks on offer and veggie/vegan food served all afternoon – find out more at our event Cream of the Crop: 4th May!
“Happening Like You“, the brand new single from Scatterchild, releases on the 31st of May 2024.
after the success of the last single, Scatterchild returns with a stripped back, raw, and intimate track – his vocals soaring above a gorgeous piano and cello combination, delivering his story of a breakup in his signature fashion. cello courtesy of the fantastic Isabel Williamson Music!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Keddy Sowels “Reflection“!
a regular face here in Manchester, he’s been performing across the city at gigs and open mics and already has some lovely tunes out – well worth checking them out; and his brand new single here marks a different direction for the indie-rock artist. 🎸
“Reflection” is more of an electronic track, moving away from the guitar-based indie anthemic tone of his previous tracks, with synths and electronic drums making their way to the forefront of the tune – and with less singing, more rapping – it shows a different side to his music. 🎶 still maintaining the political and social commentary of his earlier tracks, it’s a stark look at the state of current society.
