it’s bound to be a belter, we’ve also got the amazing talents of Goodnight Vincent as our feature act – they’re currently on tour and we’re super stoked to be able to put them on here in Manchester! we’ve had so many lovely ones lately and we’re sure this will be no different.

we’ve got our August edition of The Wrap for you guys ✨ over the past month, we’ve seen a huge amount of incredible tunes being released, such a fantastic variety up North as well – so many bands and acts smashing it with their new music. we’ve collected a few here and reviewed them for you, check it all out below! ⬇️
Manchester-based indie-pop outfit Casinos have just released their debut single “No Longer Eighteen“! Right from the get-go, the track explodes into action with a huge sound, synth leads and huge rhythm – as it delves into the verse, it drops to make way for lead singer Matt’s vocal to fit perfectly above the instrumentation. With a hugely catchy chorus of the trials and tribulations of youth, we’ve had this on repeat all month! Astounding production on this as well from Red City Recordings, the tune sounds absolutely massive and compliments the sound of the band so well. We can hear this one being blasted out in 42s and other indie venues in Manchester – fantastic songwriting from the lads here, they’ve got an absolute banger for their first release and we can’t wait to hear even more! Liverpool’s own self-proclaimed “pop-punk princess” Kerry Feeney has just released her brand new single “Narcissist“! We loved her previous releases, having such a huge sound and unique style behind her music, constantly putting out songs with such an attitude and force driving them. This new tune only continues her tradition, full of passion and power – immediately opening the track with a huge drum fill that drops right into a huge wall of distortion, and as soon as Kerry’s vocal comes in she commands the direction of the track so well – delivering the emotion conveyed in the lyrics perfectly. The chorus is huge, her voice is incredible here and such a catchy chorus. The bridge is a perfect parallel to the rest of the song, giving the track so much room to breathe only to open back up into a huge middle eight that precedes the final chorus that we can only imagine would absolutely go OFF live. Yet another brilliant release under her belt! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Leeds’ own Happy Families have just released their debut EP “Nowhere At All“! Throughout the entire release, gorgeous melodies and harmonies create a lovely soundscape for the EP – the main vocal sits so well above it all and sounds so beautiful as well. The acoustic guitar melodies almost tell a story within themselves, with delicate finger-picking defining the atmosphere, which perfectly balances to the vocal harmonies throughout the tracks. The use of percussion is perfect as well, being used dynamically to bring the lyrics to life, and in addition to this, the strings and other instrumentation used are the perfect icing on top of the songs. Well worth a listen – our favourite is the opener “Nowhere At All“, but it’s a fantastic debut release throughout. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
Glasgow’s Pizza Crunch is back with yet another single, a vast alt-rock banger “Romanticised Past” which sounds epic. The track starts off incredibly, feeling like they’re in an airspace hanger with such a great use of reverb and space, only to open up and flow comfortably into the first verse of the track. We’re massive fans of Pizza Crunch’s guitar riffs and this one is easily one of our favourites, soaring seamlessly above the track with a beautiful warm tone to it. The vocals sound fantastic, utilising a contrast in the verse to really balance out the feel – and you can easily tell the balance are so tight, so in touch with one another when they play; it’s conveyed so well on this tune. The use of delays and space throughout the song is on point, it adds so much to it all and is a great addition to the soundscape. Well worth listening to, plus their entire discography is incredible as well! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Manchester-based electro-punks Sugarstone set the bar with their previous single “That’s Intense“! We caught them live back in June and they blew us away with their high-energy, explosive stage presence and massive tunes so we were super looking forward to this tune. And man, it does not disappoint! Blending electronic synths and drums with punky, distorted guitar riffs and huge basslines, it creates a gorgeous atmosphere that balances the blend of genres so well – an absolutely massive tune that would inflict serious damage when played at full volume. Catchy hooks and chaotic breakdowns define these chaps – if you’re looking for a fantastic live band, get down to one of their gigs! Incidentally, their brand new single “Happiness is Hard To Find” has also dropped today so even more for you to feast upon! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Singer-songwriter Rosalind Joy, based on the outskirts of Manchester, has just dropped her EP “summer“! She’s performed for us a few times now and she’s captured the essence of her tracks so well in this release – opening up with “weeird“, a synthy dream-pop track with such a lovely groove behind it, gorgeous melody lines and fantastic vocals from herself, it’s a fantastic summery track with such personal and honest lyricism, the vocal harmonies throughout sound incredible and a great way to open up this EP. “Make Me Fall” gives way to a dancey track which sounds fantastic, maintaining her singer-songwriter roots whilst the production provides a lovely electronic element behind it, to create something that’s really her own sound. This is continued in the last track, culminating in a release that not only sounds lovely, but gives a breath of fresh air with such a unique style that Rosalind can really claim as her own! Manchester’s own gutter punks The Battery Farm have returned with their latest single “A Working Class Lad“! We’re huge fans of these guys, their previous releases are brilliant with such a huge sound – and if you’ve had the luxury of catching them live, they translate it so well upon the stage. The songwriting on this track is superb, giving a real socio-political commentary yet utilising simplicity throughout it all. We love to see it! Not only that, the guitar riffs, the massive walls of distortion, the rhythm sections’ explosivity, the ferocity of the vocals… it’s a huge track from the lads, absolutely fantastic with so much power and energy unleashed from the tune. Class stuff! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Indie-rockers The Ruby Tuesdays have put out their latest single “She’s Got You“! Immediately erupting into the start of the track with huge drums, driving basslines and a huge guitar lead – it sounds fantastic already within the first few bars. As the guitars make way for the first verse, the vocal glides so effortlessly over the tune, as it goes into the pre-chorus it builds and builds only to explode right into the chorus, a super catchy and huge hook that we can imagine would be belted right back at the band in a live venue. The main riff is gorgeous as well, leading the track and directing its manner, whilst each and every other instrument only compliments it and show off the capacity and talents of the band. Well worth a listen, brilliant stuff! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Andrew Bradley “Sleepwalking” which came out last week!
this is the first single from his new album and it sets the stage for it so beautifully – a really well-crafted song, so much detail in there, you can really tell how much care and attention has been put into every aspect of the song here.
the song starts with an indie-rock jangly feel, yet as it drops into the verse it becomes almost ethereal, with a huge dream-pop atmosphere with the spacey keys, Andrew’s vocal gliding softly across the top of the instruments and just a real lovely soundscape of gorgeous tones here. as it opens up, it shows the real sensitivity and intimacy conveyed by the lyrics and puts him as a songwriter who is able to not only conjure up fantastic imagery with his words, but also puts his feelings and emotions directly on his sleeve for the listener to connect with.
we absolutely love this track, it’s a real pleasure to listen to and as we stated before, it’s been crafted so well, the production is on point – definitely a tune to pop on when you’re up for a nice relaxed time. not only that, we’ve heard the album in full as well, and you guys are in store for a gorgeous listen, so many fantastic tracks – easily a 4/5 star release from the North-East based songwriter.
