our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Smalltown Love Song” from Sura Laynes! π
the Derby-based indie rock band have put out a strong collection of singles already, and with having performed a whole bunch of gigs in the local area, they’ve really made their mark on the scene as ones to watch π€
this new single sounds fantastic, there’s echoes of various influence in it, ranging from Jesus and The Mary Chain, to more anthemic indie rock acts like Oasis, and there’s a lovely groove behind the track, a moody backdrop that sets the tone for Walsh’s vocals to really take command of the tune. the drums and bass create a luscious atmosphere, and the droney guitarwork gives us a real 90’s alternative feel, and the lyrics paint an incredible portrait of love and romance – it’s a brilliant listen! π§
we had an incredible time on Thursday at the Eagle Inn for our latest “BAKED” band night
a massive shout out to everyone who made it down, great to see such a lovely audience enjoying themselves – and our acts BARDSMoss ValleyNovacane and Old Sun, New Moon were unreal, amazing sets from them all! a brilliant show of the talent here in Manchester

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “News From Nowhere” from Manchester-based psychedelic outfit Cromwell Range π₯
over the past year or so, they’ve been playing gigs across Manchester, and gaining a name for themselves as ones to watch, with intricate melodies, anthemic choruses and a real sense of musicianship – this is their debut release, and it sounds fantastic π
it’s got a lovely groove to it, the bass and drums in perfect unison to create a gorgeous backdrop, and the atmospheric guitar tone really sets the scene – plenty of space for the main vocal to take command π€ the organ that comes in from the second verse compliments the song so well, giving a 70’s psychedelic feel, akin to Led Zeppelin yet with a strong modern twist! a real tune and a brilliant first offering from the band π€
