our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the explosive new single “Mood Ring” from FEAR of MARKO
a real standout talent on the Manchester scene, we’ve known Marko for a good while, having had him perform a bunch, caught him live at so many gigs and we’re always in awe of his unique and ferocious talent – with not only a captivating and impressive stage presence, but also backed with the ability to create truly personal and unique songs that will have anyone dancing along. a must-see artist!
we’re massive fans of his music, having had the last single on repeat this year – and this new single “Mood Ring” only proves his musical capabilities even further! it opens with a ferocious hook, backed with a wall of distortion and a driving drum beat that give a real energy behind the track – and Marko takes charge of the song with his gritty and raw performance, utilising so many genres within his style to ensure that you’re hooked on every word. his lyricism in this one is spot on – his ability to tell a story in such a personal and passionate way yet maintaining a serious element of cool is one that puts FEAR of MARKO’s music above the rest.
you can find the track on all streaming platforms, and there’s an incredible music video on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0vTP5kJUN0 – it’s well worth a watch, incredible visuals!

we had them perform for us back in June and we were blown away by their set, so many fantastic tunes, such a great feel to their music and lovely chemistry between the members ๐ถ
this new single is an amazing debut offering from them, an explosive track right from the get-go, with a lovely grungey atmosphere present – so many different influences present and interacting in a real unique fashion. it drops away for the verse, a gorgeous space opening up for lead singer Zara’s vocal to soar over the backdrop, with introspective and intricate lyricism within each line. it’s a fantastic listen, and the dynamic throughout the track is second to none; the walls of sound and groove really ensuring that the track is worth putting on repeat. ๐ค

their second offering, after the release of their debut single earlier this year, they’ve taken the Manchester scene by storm, having just performed a headline set at YES Basement last week and really making their mark on the city โฑ๏ธ
this new tune sounds fantastic, with so many different influences and elements present, ranging from grungy nastiness, punky guitar riffs and melody lines, indie-rock anthemic singalong lyricism – it’s one to definitely check out! it’s a proper hard-hitting, feel good, powerful tune that proves their passion and talent for creating something that truly means something. โ๏ธ
