Just The Crust 08/07/24: Mad By Mourning – Black Car πŸ‘Š

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Mad By MourningBlack Car“! πŸ‘Š

we covered their previous single last year, “Creature Of Habit“, and we were astounded by their gothic, industrial sound – yet infusing a range of various influences, to truly create something that they can call their own – you can hear punk, metal, emo and chock-full of lyrical ingenuity, catchy hooks; it truly set them as ones to watch! 😊

this new single begins in a more moody, darker vein compared to the previous, with a riff heavy, distorted atmosphere in the opening stage – it gives a load of room for the main vocal to take command in the first verse, demanding the listener’s attention – utilising the soundscape effectively, and with a fantastic, catchy and lyrically adept chorus – they’ve only gone beyond our expectations for this one. the grunginess and heaviness of the track is perfectly balanced with the more atmospheric elements of it, a lovely use of dynamic and contrast – fantastic to see, well worth a listen!! 🎧 (also with a luscious guitar solo too!)

this new track is a proper indication of their talent, an upbeat heavy tune, lots of folk-punk atmosphere to it – and a moody, dark guitar riff, yet Steve’s vocal commands attention, with raw and emotive lyricism, baring all upon the page; and delivered in their signature no-holds-barred fashion, giving it their all throughout the track. an incredible track, well worth a listen! 🎧

You Just Played My Mind” is a track to remember, with a dark and moody undertone set to a bright and upbeat backdrop – a gorgeous contrast in the tune. the lyrics are raw and passionate, and proves his worth as a songwriter, and with a massive chorus that is bound to get you singing along! the bridge is great, a lovely drop that builds and builds to the final chorus, a great dynamic that sounds incredible. πŸ™Œ

we had them perform for us the other week and they were absolutely incredible, with such a great energy and stage presence, plus so many bangers under their belt πŸ‘Š

this new single “PoitΓn” sounds unreal, a lovely atmospheric vibe and super droney, as Quentin’s vocal commands the attention of the listener – there’s an incredible build in this song too, slowly unravelling to the chorus that’s a real earworm. there’s a lovely rock and roll element to it, but it’s got so much alternative and grungey influence; a real unique sound to it and a fantastic show of their talent. πŸ‘Š

they formed last year, and this is their second single – after a fantastic debut track in March, which really set the scene for their emo/mid-west tone, with intricate soundscapes and intimate lyricism. we love their attention to detail, with gorgeous riffs and upbeat rhythm forming their music – and their second single here only accentuates that! 🀝

we loved their previous releases, and this new tune only exceeds our expectations; a more atmospheric intro compared to their previous tracks, but with a gorgeous groove setting the scene, with Maria’s vocals gracefully taking control of the soundscape – and the drop into the guitar riff is absolutely lush.. a fantastic riff that commands your attention immediately. the balance of the vocal and the guitar is so lovely, complimenting each other perfectly throughout – and set to a really tight rhythm section that just completes the sound perfectly. πŸ’₯ another incredible tune under their belt!

Just The Crust 13/05/24: William Cawley – Regine/Or? πŸ‘Š

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from William Cawley, “Regine/Or?” β˜€οΈ

we covered his previous release towards the end of last year, and his upbeat indie-rock styling is great, reminiscent of surf rock and 60’s sounds; chock full of jangly guitars, vocal harmonies and singalong vibes. πŸ‘Š

this new single is more of a downbeat, moody and atmospheric vibe – especially with the guitar tone, a more post-punk 80’s feel, yet still with the energetic drumbeat that we became accustomed to in his previous work. it’s a more direct track lyrically, a more ambient feel yet still full on and loud πŸ™Œ the breakdown at the end is like a lovely contrast to the rest of the track, and it jumps straight back into a final run of the chorus expertly.
