Manchester’s indie-rockers Green Wire put out their brand new single “Upside Down, Inside Out” earlier this month! ⚡️
we’ve covered their music a fair bit now here on the website, and we’re huge fans of their explosive energy, captivating riffs and class songwriting that’s come to define their songs. Their previous releases are an apt example of their talent, we especially love “Cigarettes on the Dancefloor” and “T-shirt & Jeans“, both feel like a nostalgic trip to our late teens, late nights out and getting drunk in nightclubs. 👊
this new single stays true to their sound, with huge guitar riffs leading the track in, accompanied by massive rhythm sections that really make the track explode! after the massive intro, it drops down and gives way for the story to be told, and the main vocal takes command of the track, directing your attention to it so well and the songwriting is as great as ever, a gorgeous depiction of the romantic interactions between people. as it opens up into the chorus it regains the ferocity of the intro, sounding huge and with a massive singalong hook that we’re sure will be belted back at the band at any live gigs. 🤘
the bridge gives the track so much room to breathe, utilising the power chords from the rhythm guitar to give the drums their time to shine, with so many class fills really showing off the talent in the band, you can tell each member is so in sync with one another and gel so well – absolutely fantastic to see. it finally reaches the closing point on a final huge rendition of the chorus, we’re sure this one’s gonna be a belter to catch at their gigs, another brill tune from these lads.
come on down on the Saturday 1st of October from 1pm to catch all the action – great beers on tap, veggie/vegan food served all afternoon, free live music! find out more at our event Cream of the Crop: 1st Oct!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Gideon Foster “Days of Gold“, out last Friday!
Gideon’s a great friend of ours, having performed for us plenty of times at gigs and open mics and he always gives it his all – with carefully constructed songs, such great songwriting embedded in them all and a real lovely chap – we’re huge fans of his songs, what a talent!
with already a top catalogue of tunes under his belt, he’s returned with this new single “Days of Gold” which only expands on his sound – we’re huge fans of the soundscaping enveloping the track, almost an eerie and unsettling intro until it opens up into the chorus with a real catchy hook; it’s a fantastic example of his songwriting ability.
it then feels almost like an indie-rock track with the drums providing an upbeat rhythm to it, giving the track an intensity that contrasts the earlier verse super well. the outro combines the two feelings of the track incredibly, keeping that faster tempo whilst maintaining some feel of eerieness to it – it’s such a well-crafted tune and one that Gideon should definitely be proud of having under his belt
you can find it over on all the streaming platforms, or check out the full video over on his YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pHIBupldD8 fantastic to see such quality coming out!

today also marks the ONE YEAR anniversary of “Calendar Girl” by Olivia Browse ft. Szou!!
this marked a *slight* change of pace for the label, putting out a brand new genre but we absolutely love the tune, and Olivia’s constant attitude of not being defined by a singular style or genre is one of the things we love most about her. another in a fantastic line of releases from Liv! plus, Szou smashed the feature, it’s a proper banger oozing with talent.
we are absolutely stoked to be hosting one of our favourites Tay Temple for her headline show over at The Castle Hotel on the 16th October!
after she smashed her single launch at Gullivers NQ back in 2020, we’re sure this is gonna be one hell of a show – her and the band have been making waves in the North over the past few years and is one of the biggest talents we know. we’ve also got support from the amazing Jessica Luise, another fantastic up-and-coming talent her in the North West! more supports TBA
it’s definitely not one to be missed, it’s gonna be a proper night to remember! tickets are £7 ADV or £9 OTD + you can get them over on Fatsoma at https://fatso.ma/WpWL – find out more at our event Tay Temple + Special Guests
