we’re back with our next The Wrap feature for you all, covering some of our favourite releases of October! It’s been an incredible year of music so far and we’ve written about so many incredible tunes – this one’s no different, check it all out below! ⬇️
One of our favourites on the Manchester scene, FEAR OF MARKO has just released his third single “Blood For Tears“! With an ever-changing, fresh and experimental sound, every release has been super exciting. We’re huge fans of the hyper-pop/industrial sound that is present throughout each release, and Marcus’ vocal sounds fantastic as always. Starting off real calm, the progression throughout the song becomes more and more intense as it starts to build, with the vocal flow becoming even more technical to add to the complexity of the instrumentation. Another fantastic hook on this, a real singalong tune – and that outro goes absolutely hard. Great to see, well worth checking out! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP / YOUTUBE)
Another one that we’ve been keeping our eyes on over the course of the year, Novustory have put out their new single “Give Me Fire“! They’ve made absolute waves over the past couple of months, gaining traction throughout the whole of the UK, playing sold out shows and it’s truly down to their work ethic, the amount of effort they put in constantly and their combined talents. We love this new tune – the calmness of the intro is a perfect parallel to the explosivity of the chorus. These guys sure know how to write a hook, shown so well with this track. They utilise the dynamic of the song so well here, with builds, tension and lovely use of atmosphere to really show off how fantastic this tune is. Ones to watch! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP / YOUTUBE)
Another band we’ve had on the radar for a while – we were huge fans of their previous releases and this new tune from Velvet, “Self Help” is a proper indication that these guys are gonna go far. They’ve got a fantastic unique sound, which only expands out with every single release – utilising tones, guitar riffs, huge drums, massive basslines to really create something they can call their own. This new tune goes right in from the get-go, with such a fantastic groove to it, showing how much chemistry the band has with each other – we’d love to see how this one goes down in a lil basement club, it’d be mental! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
VENUS GRRRLS have been absolutely smashing it all across the UK lately, with constant radio plays, reviews and the such – when you hear this new tune “Aries” you’ll understand exactly why. We were massive fans of their last single “Violet State of Mind” and they’ve followed up with another proper banger. The chorus in this song is undeniably one of the best we’ve heard all year – catchy, easy to understand, a perfect explosivity of energy contrasting to the former verse. The guitar riffs throughout, driving bassline, and steady drums backing the track give so much energy to the track – all balancing the main vocal so well and just showing off the talent superbly. This is definitely one for our end of year list, we think! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP / YOUTUBE)
One of the best bands we’ve seen live this yeaar, Sugarstone have put out their debut EP “SUCKER“! The balance of genres here, ranging from metal to indie to electronica.. they’ve got something super special here behind them. We were huge fans of the second track “That’s Intense” which came out a few months ago, but the rest of the tracks compliment it so well – the opener “Author Is Now Dead” is a huge track incorporating so many elements throughout from synth lines, metal breakdowns, to the lyricism – a bleak yet intensive piece of social commentary. It’s chock-full of energetic, thought-provoking tunes that have harmonies throughout and sound just bloody incredible. Whack this on at a party and you’ll get everyone going mental! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
One of our favourite songwriters and general people on the Manchester scene, we absolutely LOVED Mathew Kerry’s 2019 release “Okie Dokie?”. He’s come back with another one, “If You’re Not Going Home With Me, That’s Okay“, which only expands on the quality of his last one. Full to the brim with beautiful melodies, Mat’s gorgeous vocal over the top of it all, it sounds absolutely lovely. Throughout, his songwriting shines through – his lyricism is second to none, one of the most talented chaps we know. The instrumentation throughout really commpliments him too – big shout to Sloe Flower Studios, always fantastic work from them. A must listen to any singer-songwriter fans! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP / YOUTUBE)
Another familiar face for us on the scene, Dr Fabola has just put out his brand new single “All Behind“! His first release this year, he’s kept true to his beautiful fingerpicking style, soft vocals, and lovely image-inducing lyrics. We love his style, it’s such a raw outburst of passion – the atmosphere of this track compliments him so well. The backing vocals in the chorus are a lovely balance to his main vocal – it’s such a well produced song, perfect for Dr Fabola’s sound. We can’t wait to hear more from him, the calm feel of this song is so lush and yet another fantastic release from him. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP / YOUTUBE)
We’ve covered Leeds’ Cliche Cult so many times in the past now, every release from them has been super sublime – this new tune “Slippy” only proves that they can improve on an already incredible discography. Straight from the get-go, the track is huge. The guitar riff that comes in is so dirty, laying the foundation for the track so well, and throughout the verses there’s an exceptional chemistry between the band that is parallel to none. We love this tune, the vocals are on point, the lyricism is tongue in cheek and compliments itself by the use of rhythm between verses, and that chorus is bloomin massive. They never disappoint us, this is 100% well worth a listen! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)

Liverpool-based Dune Boy has just put out his debut album “We Can Go There If You Want?” – a beautiful collection of indie-folk songs that are delicately put together yet are so expertly crafted, with a real intimate between him and the listener. With gorgeous guitar licks throughout, stern rhythm sections that hold it all together and his soft vocal that glides effortlessly over each track, it’s a gorgeous debut from the songwriter. Manchester’s Daniel Darley has just released his debut single “Faking“! We had him perform for us earlier in the year and he astounded us with his stellar songwriting, lovely chord progressions and chemistry with his lead guitarist on accompaniment. This track only proves his talent – his vocal sounds sublime as it comes into the verse, and his storytelling throughout the track is superb. You can really feel the emotion that he’s pouring into this track, and the production with the violinwork and instrumentation in the background compliments him so well. We can’t wait to hear more! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
Indie-pop sensation Scott Magnus has returned with his brand new single “Wanting You Back“! We’re huge fans of his previous releases, his album “COMEBACK STRONGER” was absolutely brilliant and this new tune only cements his talent. With an upbeat yet eerie beat, centred around a lovely guitar riff, his vocal commands the attention of the listener with his powerful and dynamic range – really getting you to hear the story that he’s telling, a ballad of romance, loss and regret. It’s a real honest depiction, lyrically – something we love to see, an outburst of pure emotion and having the strength to be able to put it into words. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Manchester’s very own The Distance have brought out their single “Falling“! We’ve caught these performing a bunch of times now, both at gigs across Manchester and we’ve also had them play for us loads now. This tune sounds fantastic, a real indie-rock anthem that defines their sound so well – feeling like 90’s nostalgia yet also with a modern twist that they can call their own. Jack and Sam’s vocals compliment each other so well on this track, a real great balance between the two of them and it really shows off the chemistry within the band. The breakdown sounds superb too, a lovely contrast to the the upbeat feel of the rest of the track and exploding into the final chorus fantastically. Well worth a listen, we can’t wait to hear their other tunes once they’re out! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
Manchester’s indie punks pyncher have just put out their latest single “The Saddest Man Around“! we were huge fans of their last release and this one is mega. laden with gorgeous ambience surrounding the track, they utilise a lovely and mellow guitar riff to really encapsulate their grungey feel – the build throughout the track is real lush, incorporating so much energy to the song and using the dynamic of the instruments to their full potential. makes us feel like we should be in a basement, hearing them blast out these tunes at full volume! well worth a listen. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
London’s Tiffany Twisted have teamed up with SUMMER ALONE for their latest single “333” – an infectious, punky and grungey anthem that sounds absolutely huge. the guitar riffs throughout are dreamy and atmospheric yet so eerie, and the drum work throughout is absolutely spectacular. it’s got such a huge groove to the track, the build-up to the chorus is gorgeous, and it explodes in a wave of lead guitar riffs and feedback that just sings in itself. the bridge sounds proper beautiful too, a chaotic contrast to the rest of the track but really adds so much of a haunting atmosphere to it all. well worth a listen, there’s absolutely so much throughout this tune! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Newcastle-based indie outfit Firesites put out their new single “HomeAgain” with Ada Grace Francis! A gorgeous, melodic ballad that opens up with such a soft, relaxed atmosphere, suddenly shifts gear into a jazzy, feel good vibe to it. The vocals throughout are so warm, complimenting one another so well – the track flows so well, you can imagine just drifting along on a cloud with the warmth emanating from this. The lyricism is spot on too, so lovely and raw – plus, we absolutely love the guitar solo, beautiful stuff. They should be reyt proud of this track, absolutely beautiful stuff! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Hollows here in Manchester have just dropped this huge single “Ghosts“! we loved their previous releases, fantastic alternative rock tunes that have made a proper impact in the city. this new tune only continues with that, with driving basslines, tight drums that gel it all so well together and gorgeous lead melodies that match Sean’s lead vocal so well – his passion is put superbly into this track, absolutely belting it out at times and sounding so wonderful. the guitar solo is blooming gorgeous too, this one’s definitely a testament to the talent of the band. go have a listen! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)

Manchester-based indie-pop outfit Casinos have just released their debut single “No Longer Eighteen“! Right from the get-go, the track explodes into action with a huge sound, synth leads and huge rhythm – as it delves into the verse, it drops to make way for lead singer Matt’s vocal to fit perfectly above the instrumentation. With a hugely catchy chorus of the trials and tribulations of youth, we’ve had this on repeat all month! Astounding production on this as well from Red City Recordings, the tune sounds absolutely massive and compliments the sound of the band so well. We can hear this one being blasted out in 42s and other indie venues in Manchester – fantastic songwriting from the lads here, they’ve got an absolute banger for their first release and we can’t wait to hear even more! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
Liverpool’s own self-proclaimed “pop-punk princess” Kerry Feeney has just released her brand new single “Narcissist“! We loved her previous releases, having such a huge sound and unique style behind her music, constantly putting out songs with such an attitude and force driving them. This new tune only continues her tradition, full of passion and power – immediately opening the track with a huge drum fill that drops right into a huge wall of distortion, and as soon as Kerry’s vocal comes in she commands the direction of the track so well – delivering the emotion conveyed in the lyrics perfectly. The chorus is huge, her voice is incredible here and such a catchy chorus. The bridge is a perfect parallel to the rest of the song, giving the track so much room to breathe only to open back up into a huge middle eight that precedes the final chorus that we can only imagine would absolutely go OFF live. Yet another brilliant release under her belt! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Leeds’ own Happy Families have just released their debut EP “Nowhere At All“! Throughout the entire release, gorgeous melodies and harmonies create a lovely soundscape for the EP – the main vocal sits so well above it all and sounds so beautiful as well. The acoustic guitar melodies almost tell a story within themselves, with delicate finger-picking defining the atmosphere, which perfectly balances to the vocal harmonies throughout the tracks. The use of percussion is perfect as well, being used dynamically to bring the lyrics to life, and in addition to this, the strings and other instrumentation used are the perfect icing on top of the songs. Well worth a listen – our favourite is the opener “Nowhere At All“, but it’s a fantastic debut release throughout. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
Glasgow’s Pizza Crunch is back with yet another single, a vast alt-rock banger “Romanticised Past” which sounds epic. The track starts off incredibly, feeling like they’re in an airspace hanger with such a great use of reverb and space, only to open up and flow comfortably into the first verse of the track. We’re massive fans of Pizza Crunch’s guitar riffs and this one is easily one of our favourites, soaring seamlessly above the track with a beautiful warm tone to it. The vocals sound fantastic, utilising a contrast in the verse to really balance out the feel – and you can easily tell the balance are so tight, so in touch with one another when they play; it’s conveyed so well on this tune. The use of delays and space throughout the song is on point, it adds so much to it all and is a great addition to the soundscape. Well worth listening to, plus their entire discography is incredible as well! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Manchester-based electro-punks Sugarstone set the bar with their previous single “That’s Intense“! We caught them live back in June and they blew us away with their high-energy, explosive stage presence and massive tunes so we were super looking forward to this tune. And man, it does not disappoint! Blending electronic synths and drums with punky, distorted guitar riffs and huge basslines, it creates a gorgeous atmosphere that balances the blend of genres so well – an absolutely massive tune that would inflict serious damage when played at full volume. Catchy hooks and chaotic breakdowns define these chaps – if you’re looking for a fantastic live band, get down to one of their gigs! Incidentally, their brand new single “Happiness is Hard To Find” has also dropped today so even more for you to feast upon! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Singer-songwriter Rosalind Joy, based on the outskirts of Manchester, has just dropped her EP “summer“! She’s performed for us a few times now and she’s captured the essence of her tracks so well in this release – opening up with “weeird“, a synthy dream-pop track with such a lovely groove behind it, gorgeous melody lines and fantastic vocals from herself, it’s a fantastic summery track with such personal and honest lyricism, the vocal harmonies throughout sound incredible and a great way to open up this EP. “Make Me Fall” gives way to a dancey track which sounds fantastic, maintaining her singer-songwriter roots whilst the production provides a lovely electronic element behind it, to create something that’s really her own sound. This is continued in the last track, culminating in a release that not only sounds lovely, but gives a breath of fresh air with such a unique style that Rosalind can really claim as her own! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Manchester’s own gutter punks The Battery Farm have returned with their latest single “A Working Class Lad“! We’re huge fans of these guys, their previous releases are brilliant with such a huge sound – and if you’ve had the luxury of catching them live, they translate it so well upon the stage. The songwriting on this track is superb, giving a real socio-political commentary yet utilising simplicity throughout it all. We love to see it! Not only that, the guitar riffs, the massive walls of distortion, the rhythm sections’ explosivity, the ferocity of the vocals… it’s a huge track from the lads, absolutely fantastic with so much power and energy unleashed from the tune. Class stuff! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Indie-rockers The Ruby Tuesdays have put out their latest single “She’s Got You“! Immediately erupting into the start of the track with huge drums, driving basslines and a huge guitar lead – it sounds fantastic already within the first few bars. As the guitars make way for the first verse, the vocal glides so effortlessly over the tune, as it goes into the pre-chorus it builds and builds only to explode right into the chorus, a super catchy and huge hook that we can imagine would be belted right back at the band in a live venue. The main riff is gorgeous as well, leading the track and directing its manner, whilst each and every other instrument only compliments it and show off the capacity and talents of the band. Well worth a listen, brilliant stuff! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)

Another huge release from Scotland’s Pizza Crunch, “Wilting Youth” expands on their already huge sound encapsulated within their previous releases – maintaining that cool, collected vibe, huge riffs and steady rhythm to provide lovely sonic scenery for the buttery main vocal to slide through. 🍃 a real summery indie/alt anthem here, the guitar riffs are gorgeous and sound so lush, and as it opens up into that dreamy bridge, we love the atmosphere around it, really sets the scene for the remainder of the tune and the explosivity of the outro/final chorus makes this a tune to be put on repeat all through the summer. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP / YOUTUBE)
One of our favourites on the North West scene, The Empire Police returned with an absolutely huge track “Tell England We Don’t Know“! Opening with a huge gang vocal, a real cinematic intro it really shows the ferocity of this tune. The verses are a gorgeous contrast, mellow and calmed; yet lyrically poetic and beautiful – suddenly becoming direct and aggressive and oh so political, distortion crackling at the sidelines and the rhythm becoming more and more chaotic and brutal… exploding into that huge chorus! 👊 the bridge is a relentless rant at the state of the country, the socio-political climate and oh so spot on. Lyrically, it’s a beautiful middle finger towards the political part of the country – so eloquently put, but with no holds barred. Probably our favourite release from them yet! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Lancashire-based indie outfit The Forensics have just put out their newest single “Change My Mind“! Opening up with some synthy/dream-pop-esque ambience, it sounds fantastic from the get go. As it flows into that first verse, the rhythm kicks in and really gives it a deserved groove, and as it opens up into the chorus we can imagine this is gonna be a huge sing-a-long hit for them at gigs and that. 👊 the guitar solo sits perfectly after the first chorus, staying reserved but pushing melodies all over the track and sounding fantastic. We can’t wait to hear more from these! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
South Wales based RATOON released their second single “What Do They Know“! A brill tune with an honest and relatable story behind it (the video portrays this so well and it’s perfect for the track!) it sounds great, fast-paced punky indie feel here which you can never go wrong with. ☀️ it’d go off live, we can imagine it sounding huge! With a catchy chorus, anthemic fast paced vibes, we’re sure RATOON are gonna be making waves! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Pop/soul extraordinaire James Reid has returned with his brand new single “LYING“! Opening up with a massive EDM influence, the track soars into the first verse with a real smooth groove to it, the drums give it such a good feeling and James’ vocal sits so well within it. As it comes into the chorus the bassline drives it so well, a fantastically written hook and such a smooth and gorgeous vocal on this too. Unreal stuff here, such a good energy to the track and definitely one to put on repeat. We love the production, it’s honest and heartfelt storytelling and just a proper banger! Well worth a listen! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
The fantastic We Three Kings have their new tune “The Criminal” out! First off, that riff is absolutely gorgeous. From the start it’s huge, you can hear how tight the band is here and they’re able to craft such a huge sounding track. Vocals here are on point too, absolutely belting it out – a real catchy tune that is just gonna go mental at any live setting. 🤘 we love the energy of the bridge, changing up a bit, opening up and culminating in a massive sound! Well worth a listen, plus their back catalogue is well tasty. Plenty to sink your teeth into! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP / YOUTUBE)
Manchester-based Roukaya B put out this absolute banger of a tune this month, “The Sauce“! With unreal production, a proper feel-good vibe with such a groove behind it – one to reyt blast out during these sunny days. She’s able to effortlessly flow between her rapping and singing, utilising both to glide over the track so seamlessly, and her lyricism is class, telling her story with such imagery and confidence! Perfectly balancing her energy with the atmosphere of the track, well worth having a gander at! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Manchester-based singer-songwriter jamie henry has just dropped his second release, “don’t leave“! A familiar face on the Manchester circuit – this tune sounds fantastic, so effortlessly delicate and raw, yet you can hear the pure passion and effort that’s gone into the writing of this. 🌛 the soft ambience in the background is gorgeous, the guitar licks accompanied by the backing vocals sound so massive and really bring the song to life. the build up throughout is great, climaxing in that final section with such a dreamy atmosphere – we feel like there may be some Phoebe Bridgers influence in there… plus, a b-side that is hauntingly beautiful. Can’t wait to hear more! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)

Right from the get-go, Rivver‘s new track “Fever” sounds massive. The drums explode into the track with a serious commanding spirit, and as the verse comes in, the lads really control the attention of the listener. With a huge chorus, catchy as anything (as we’re used to with them by now!) – it sounds incredible. A real testament to their sound, showing that they’re here to stay.. a real force to be reckoned with on the North West scene. We love the guitar solo too, so simple but yet so effective and then the vocal comes in and is just belting it out, insane stuff. 🤘 the pre-final chorus section is a work of great production too, breaking it down so well only to erupt right into that final chorus. Fantastic stuff from the boys! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
London’s own Devansh has just put out his brand new single “In Your Nature“! Combining elements of soul, indie and psychedelia – it’s a beautiful concoction of different influences and elements coming together to create something truly wonderful. ☀️ the sounds used here are just simply gorgeous, so many fantastic synth lines throughout that only compliment Devansh’s vocal melody which is so soothing throughout the entire track. It’s a real summery and mellow tune that we’re sure to have on repeat during these heatwaves! We can’t wait to hear more. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Liverpool-based indie-pop outfit TRAITS have just released their debut single “Holding On“! Really amazing sound here on this track, almost surf-pop in areas, the guitar tones are just sublime – and the use of synthesised melodies behind it all creates a real beautiful soundscape to the track. ⚡️ the vocal floats perfectly above the dreamy ambience of the tune, and really flows so well with all the instrumentation throughout… it’s a real banger and really shows everyone what they’re capable of here! We absolutely can’t wait to hear more from these guys. A real tune to blast out on the waterfront during the summer months! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
A proper contrast to the former tracks so far on the feature, The Perps return with their brand new single “Megalomaniac” 🤘 that drum fill at the start really sets the scene for the rest of the tune – punchy, shouty punk music – all the goodness we need as of late in this political climate. The guitar riff is bloody lovely too, really commands the attention of the listener, along with the direct lyricism throughout it’s a proper lovely connection between the two to form this top tune. Personally, we love the lyrics, especially on the rhyming schemes – getting words to rhyme that shouldn’t really fit (it’s definitely a Northern thing.) It’s a proper huge track, listening to this live in a basement gig would simply go OFF. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Hailing from the Peak District, PEAK LOW has returned here with his brand new EP “The Golden Hour I“! Right from the start, we’re entranced by his gorgeous vocal – not only does he sound lovely, but he knows exactly what to do to make it unique and personal to himself. 🙌 the instrumentation behind only solidifies his musical talent, a perfect backdrop to his songs – sad, honest and so personal… it’s a beautiful insight into his life. Glasgow’s own Velvet have just put out their latest release, “Spine“! We’ve covered these chaps in the past and we’re well-acquainted with their talent. Mixing post-punk with grunge, heavy rock riffs and huge changeups, this is proper our cuppa tea. 💥 the verse of the track is so lush, flowing so well, calm, mellow and restrained; and abruptly explodes into a huge riff that paves the way for the huge chorus. You can really tell these lads perform so well together, they sound so tight as a band – mixing synthesised sounds in there too.. it’s a real tune. Well worth checking out, gotta catch these live soon! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP)

It’s well worth a listen, and they’ve just played a show over at The Deaf Insititute so we’re sure they’re not going anywhere! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP)
One of our favourites on the Manchester scene, Hayden J Barlow has returned with another single (that’s like 5 this year!? what a machine!) “persona non grata“! ☀️ taking a different direction to his previous EP “rudimentary”, he’s gone for the full on acoustic atmosphere, however with some expertly done production to maintain his usual sound. It’s a proper belter, a real direct song written straight from the heart. You can really hear the passion he’s put in this song, lyricism is on point as always with this fella. The production is so poignant, really keeps you interested as always with Hayden’s music – well worth listening to! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / BANDCAMP)

Scotland’s very own indie-punks Pizza Crunch have returned with another hard-hitting single “Young Excitement“! 🤘 following on from a superb string of singles, they’ve come back with this new single that really solidifies them as ones making movements on the circuit – a fantastic guitar riff throughout the track, backed by a rhythm section that simply grooves through the flow of the track, all strung together with a lovely singalong chorus reminiscent of 80’s punk and new wave bands. The key change in the last chorus is fantastic too, really elevating the track to another level. Class from the lads! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
We’ve covered Warrington’s own Scott and the Flying Kicks in the past with his past releases, but he’s returned here with a completely different, brand new venture in the form of his “Street Fighter” EP! Taking a much more electronic approach to his music, there’s so many elements to this EP – giving us vibes of The Streets and even hip-hop, with rapping throughout, fantastic to see so much variety from this fella. ☀️ covering lyrical topics ranging from politics, modern-day living and even parenting – this is a really well put-together EP with some brilliant use of sampling, beatmaking and lyricism. Well worth a listen! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Greater Manchester post-punks Mort Jardin have returned with yet another explosive release, their brand new album “Lost Season“! Chock-full of the grungey riffs that we’re so used to from them now, this sounds so lovely – there’s a lot of melodic elements within the album that really let it soar through the tracks, but still maintaining that distortion and feedback that really signifies their sound. 😊 the songwriting on this is superb too, with imagery that induces such lovely atmospheres alongside the use of instrumentation and melodies – it’s well worth a listen, especially for anyone who has a thing for 90’s alternative and grunge. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
One of our favourite and most unique artists on the Manchester scene, FEAR OF MARKO has started fresh with a brand new single “Dizzy” 👊 such a huge song, with a proper singalong chorus that we’re sure will be absolutely explosive live – and lyricism that’s so personal and intimate, the flows within the vocal too really set this apart as one to put on repeat. Really well done – you can tell that time has been put into this to really hone their craft andd make something proper special. The production too is simply sublime, mixing grunginess with hyperpop and adding in more calm and acoustic elements to it too – it’s really worth listening to this, a fantastic track. We can’t wait to hear more! Also, the music video aesthetic is absolutely perfect for the track. (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
One of our favourites on the Manchester scene, comedic songwriter Chris Tavener has returned with a full EP “Easy Ways To Be Happy“! Expanding out on his familiar satirical style that’s really defined his sound and made him a real force on the North West scene, he’s come back with a lovely collection of songs that sound absolutely fantastic. 🌞 There’s so much dynamic range to the tracks, ranging from singer-songwriter to more rock and roll, even with some more personal and touching tracks in there too. Well worth a listen, you’ll get a real insight into the world of Chris Tavener! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
Manchester indie-rockers Cottons have put out yet another fantastic tune, with a brand new single “So I’ll Call” 📞 the tune sounds brilliant, they’ve gone from strength to strength with every single release, expanding out their sound and honing their craft so well. They sound so tight on this track, the electronic elements and production really add a huge amount to the track, amount to the song, and the instrumentation really works so well in tandem with each other to make this an absolutely banger. Well worth catching them, they’ve been playing festival slots and we can only imagine they’ve got so much more coming up! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC)
Singer-songwriter Isaac Neilson has come back with a brand new single “Deep As A River“! This song sounds so lovely, the flow throughout is absolutely gorgeous with the violin runs throughout, and Isaac’s vocal runs so smoothly over the course of the track and then once you hear the other vocal, it sits so well in parallel to the rest of the track. As the track runs it’s course, the build is so lovely, with the vocals getting more intense, and distorted melodies on the guitar expanding out – such well done on the production here to keep the track moving so well. 😊 Absolutely brilliant stuff here, we’ve seen him perform a few times now and he’s a proper talent here in the North. We can’t wait to hear more from him! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE)
Liverpool acoustic singer-songwriter Evie Moran returns with her third single so far, “Disconnected” 👏 keeping true to her ethereal, dreamy sound, this track sounds absolutely gorgeous. Her vocal flows so soothingly across the track, and the acoustic melody is proper beautiful – a really intimate insight into Evie’s music. The production on this is top notch too, just perfect for the track with the calm drumbeat and the acoustic melodies played over the top of the guitar, and her songwriting on this is fantastic too – something we’ve grown accustomed to now with her! Definitely one to watch here, a real talent over in Merseyside who we’re sure will go on to do great things! (SPOTIFY / APPLE MUSIC / YOUTUBE / BANDCAMP)
