Just The Crust 15/09/25: The Empire Police – Wise & Well 💥

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the new single “Wise & Well” from The Empire Police 👊

a real force on the North West scene, we’re huge fans of these guys, having released a bunch of incredible tunes over the years and performed all across the UK – and we love the run of new singles they’ve been putting out recently 🤘

this new tune takes no prisoners, it’s an in-your-face tune, with driving guitars, walls of sound, huge rhythm and riffs all the way throughout. Jordao’s vocal sounds fantastic on this, really proving his ability to command the track – and with their classic no-nonsense lyricism, they’ve created not only a proper singalong tune, but one that relates to the feelings and emotions of those who may feel lost in modern society. it’s yet another incredible tune from them! 💥

Just The Crust 28/07/25: The Empire Police – Crawling Distance 👊

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Crawling Distance” from The Empire Police! 🤝

a familiar face on the North West scene, they’ve been making waves for a good few years now, having put out a bunch of incredible tunes, and performing all across the region and selling out shows on the regular in their Preston hometown 🎶

this new track sounds fantastic, blending their earlier indie-rock roots with more metal-infused, heavier elements that really paves the way for their anthemic, driving brand of alternative rock – with expert lyricism, they’re able to paint a picture with their lyrics, matched with instrumentation that compliments the wordcraft fantastically, the track ebbs and flows and truly feels like a journey with the band. it’s a brilliant listen! 👊

REVIEW: The Empire Police – The Human Condition 👊

Lancashire heavyweights The Empire Police bring their prolific year to an end with a bang, with the release of their brand new single “The Human Condition“. After performing across the North West, at venues such as Night and Day, The Ferret, and putting on their own festival Rock AM River in Preston at The New Continental, they’ve established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the North West, and ones to definitely keep an eye out for in 2024.

We were massive fans of their previous release “Northern Bones” earlier this year, a track that blended grungier and punkier elements with intricate storytelling and poetry from lead singer Jordao – whilst maintaining catchy hooks, infectious melodies and huge soundscaping; just some of the class qualities that we’ve come to expect from The Empire Police’s offerings. Their songs are laden with accurate, yet often bleak descriptions of society and the modern climate, written with passion and expertise – and their musical capabilities behind the lyrics give the songs a huge impact on the listener. Every element of the track works in perfect unison with one another to ensure that the music has just as much power and impact as the lyricism does.

This new tune “The Human Condition” not only is another classic from The Empire Police, but sets a real standard, it’s an incredible track from the fellas. Opening up with a wavy, dream-like soundscape, the track gives a strong backdrop for Jordao to command the listener’s attention – and his lyricism throughout is quality, taking a real look at the nature of humanity, a real reflection of the society of today. His rhyming pattern throughout is lovely, always maintaining freshness – and the tight rhythm section behind creates a real foundation on the track. There’s a gorgeous guitar tone within the verses, picking lovely riffs and then opening up to a huge wall of sound in the choruses, giving such a ferocity to it. The breakdown is a short breath of fresh air, and calm, within the track – and the build up to the final section is huge, with a real sense of power and command throughout it all.

NEW: The Empire Police – Northern Bones (Review) 🤘

one of our favourite bands out there, Preston-based indie rockers The Empire Police have returned with their brand new single “Northern Bones“! we’ve caught these guys live a bunch of times and they never fail to astound us with their massive tunes, incredible stage presence and energy – we loved their last few releases, some proper bangers under their belt already.

opening up in the strongest way, with ferocity all across the board; a massive guitar riff, huge drums and a driving bassline all behind Jordao’s commanding vocal – right from the get-go it’s got that infectious energy that we’ve come to expect from The Empire Police’s music. the pre-chorus takes things to a calmer point momentarily, with production perfectly poised for the track, and as it builds to the chorus it goes between so many grooves and creates such a sense of balance between the tension and the explosivity of the tune.

the chorus is a huge singalong, with a hook of “my Northern Bones can’t cope” it’s sure to be belted right back at them at gigs and the chaos that is behind it gives it such a sense of aggression and rage that were present in their previous release, “Tell England We Don’t Know“. the lyricism is spot on too, with a severe political edge and a real reflection of their views on society, with the repetitive “We beg, we lie, we steal, we cheat; Regret, repent, reprieve; Repeat, we grieve, we bleed that bittersweet” really showing off the state of life in the present. A real indication of their songwriting ability here, it’s a sombre yet realistic outlook of self-reflection and need to change, put across so eloquently. there’s so much emotion put across this entire song, through the lyricism, and the ferocity of the instrumentation, all gelling together with the production work to really create a socio-political anthem of a generation.

we’re 100% confident that The Empire Police are destined for great things, and this here is living proof of that – another incredible tune under their belt. make sure that you catch them live when they’re playing; you can also stream their music on Spotify and other streaming sites, or check out the full music video on YouTube at https://youtu.be/jUaw9DqartI.
