Salford indie-rock outfit Daisychain have just dropped their latest single “222“! We were massive fans of their debut tune earlier in the year, and this is a fantastic new release from them – the track has a luscious groove behind it, with the drums and bass providing a fantastic rhythm, and the loose guitar melodies give ample space for the conversationalist vocal to really take command of the track – it’s a real lyrically adept track, purveying expert songwriting and putting across honest and raw feelings in a way that’s super enjoyable to listen to. well worth checking out!
we’ve been big fans of Sip Of Milk for a good while now, having had them perform for us a bunch and loving their tunes – this new single “Goodbye, Life of Riley” sounds fantastic! it’s a gorgeous indication of their ability to write a catchy, intricate tune – and the tune sounds superb with a real groove behind it, lovely lead guitar riffs lacing the track and descriptive, image-inducing lyricism – another incredible track from them. we can’t wait to hear more!
we’re massive fans of Alwyn Jones, having had him perform a bunch for us, his debut single was sensational too – this new single “Adjacent” only proves even further his talent. there’s a lovely 2000’s indie rock element behind this track, mixed with intimate singer-songwriter stylings, really combining this to create something that is a perfect soundscape to Alwyn’s expert songwriting ability, being able to convey so much with so little, being able to utilise diction and cadence superbly – an incredible tune!
we’ve known Emily Mercer for such a long time now, having been a familiar face on the Manchester scene for a good few years, and she’s just released her new single “The Record“! with her unique and gorgeous vocal coming right in from the get-go, and her wonderful and delicate pianowork accompanying, it’s a lovely and intimate track, that flows so well throughout, like a breeze on a summer’s day. there’s so many beautiful aspects within this track, percussion, accompanying instruments, that all come together so perfectly to create something so lovely to listen to.
another familiar face for us, Georgia Johnson has just released her debut EP “Bearhug“! we had her perform for us the day before this dropped, and we were treated to some lovely renditions of the tracks – every time she performs we’re in awe at her ability to encapsulate a crowd’s attention and her songwriting ability. it’s on full display here, with so many emotionally raw lyrics, and every lyric has a story, a purpose – the production behind the songs is perfect, giving such a lovely flow and dynamic to the songs, balancing so well to the feel of the track, really complimenting her songwriting ability and ensuring that you’re hanging onto every word of the stories that Georgia tells.
Manchester-based singer-songwriter George Gibson has just released “The Loop” – his second single! it sounds lovely, it’s a catchy, upbeat and positive track, with intricate and raw lyricism – the guitarwork sounds absolutely fantastic, giving the track such life, and it’s a perfect balance to George’s vocal abilities, really bringing out the best in the track – and the drums and production only accentuate the quality of it! well worth checking out!
Betty Kendrick just released her newest single “All These Parties Are Lifeless“, taken from her brand new EP – it’s an incredible track, laden with gorgeous vocal melodies, delicate and intricate instrumentation, and giving her main vocal so much space to tell her tale, so much raw passion put into her lyricism, with a fierce desire to portray the stories that she sings. the balance of the vocals to the harmonies only grows more powerful throughout, a wall of sound that is full of emotion – what a song!
we were blown away by the first release by Sad Sells that came out last year, and their new single “Words and Lies” is an incredible follow up! it opens up so well, with a lovely balance between the guitar and vocal, the latter of which takes direct command with immediate impact, drawing the listener in to hang on every word. as the band comes in, the groove of the track feels so easy, proving the chemistry of the band – the bass and drums are locked in, the backing vocals providing a luscious balance to the main vocal – it’s an incredible listen and well-worth it to any fan of good music!
