our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Smalltown Love Song” from Sura Laynes! π
the Derby-based indie rock band have put out a strong collection of singles already, and with having performed a whole bunch of gigs in the local area, they’ve really made their mark on the scene as ones to watch π€
this new single sounds fantastic, there’s echoes of various influence in it, ranging from Jesus and The Mary Chain, to more anthemic indie rock acts like Oasis, and there’s a lovely groove behind the track, a moody backdrop that sets the tone for Walsh’s vocals to really take command of the tune. the drums and bass create a luscious atmosphere, and the droney guitarwork gives us a real 90’s alternative feel, and the lyrics paint an incredible portrait of love and romance – it’s a brilliant listen! π§
we had an incredible time on Thursday at the Eagle Inn for our latest “BAKED” band night
a massive shout out to everyone who made it down, great to see such a lovely audience enjoying themselves – and our acts BARDSMoss ValleyNovacane and Old Sun, New Moon were unreal, amazing sets from them all! a brilliant show of the talent here in Manchester
we’ll be back next month with our next one, another brilliant one in store – keep your eyes peeled for the announcement next week!
this week we’ve been celebrating two of our releases with Narwhals
today was the three year anniversary of our first track with them on the label, “3310 & A Pterosaur“, such a fantastic tune and an incredible indication of their songwriting ability and musicianship
and on Sunday was the one year anniversary of the second to last track we put out with them, “Unstitched” with ThΔ one of our favourites, such a raw track and a fantastic listen!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Ramellos, “Heedless Hearts“! π
this is their debut offering, it’s a fantastic tune, sounding superb – they’ve had a bunch of shows up in the North East and this tune proper shows off their talent. it’s a lovely indie-rock banger, with intricate and raw lyricism, there’s an incredible flow to the track, with a luscious long extended intro, that drops into the main chorus expertly, and then only becomes bigger and bigger throughout the song, a real lovely progression within it π
with the drums and bass providing a gorgeous backdrop, and the guitar laying down a luscious melody, lead riffs circling the soundscape, there’s plenty of space for the vocal to take charge and ensure the listener’s attention – a fantastic debut from the band! π€
