our feature for today’s Just The Crust is “Waterslide“, the brand new single from Norwich-based indie outfit Chest!
fusing indie-rock, punk and grunge elements, they’ve created a real unique sound to their music, with inspirations from post-punk and anthemic alternative rock; culminating in a lo-fi, atmospheric soundscape, chock-full of guitar melodies and riffs that encircle the listener, and with vocal harmonies laced throughout the entire track – all locked into a firm foundation with a driving and strong rhythm from the drums and bassline. an incredible tune, well worth a listen!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from VALA “Fishes“!
we’ve been huge fans of VALA for a while now, having reviewed their past few singles which sound mega, a real lovely atmosphere to them and such a feel-good sound. we caught them at The Deaf Institute on Friday and they were class – well worth heading to one of their live shows!
this new single only extends to their already-fantastic discography, with a gorgeous guitar melody laying the foundation of the song, a tight rhythm holding it together and the main vocal utilising the space of the track superbly, especially with the use of the autotune to bring a more synthetic sound to the song – it’s still got the upbeat elements of their previous releases but brings all of their different influences to it, which is brilliant to see.
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from James Wolf “Stargazing“!
we’ve known James for a good while now, with him performing for us regularly at our events and having had him play with his band at our last Cream of the Crop; his midwest-emo / 2000’s alternative-influenced sound is lovely and sets him apart as a songwriter.
this new single shows his lyrical prowess, but opens up his production technique and ability, taking a more electronic approach to his music – with dreamy synth lines, trap-inspired drum patterns and mellow and deep bass licks. the sonic atmosphere of this track is superb, creating a real elevated feel, and flowing incredibly throughout the chorus, a gorgeous contrast to the verses.
we went down last year and it was mega, and this year they’ve got a fantastic lineup with the likes of The Empire Police Sugarstone Tay Temple SLAP RASH and more! definitely not one to miss out on

it’s been a whole week since our Olivia Browse released her newest single “debbie harry“!
we’ve had an incredible reaction to the track, with so many people streaming it and listening on repeat – we’re at over 1.3k streams already, a huge thanks to everyone who has checked it out we love to see it!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Souza “Morning Calling“!
we were blown away by their previous release “Backroads” back in February, only adding to an already strong catalogue of releases under their belt, and this new tune only solidifies the quality in their discography
opening up with an energetic groove behind the track, there’s a real lovely lo-fi atmosphere to it all – the grungey guitar tones sound lovely, creating a lush backdrop for the vocals to shine through. the rhythm section throughout is super tight, holding the track down while the main vocal glides over, and for the lead guitar to find a space for that little riff to excel in. even with the breakdown throughout the second verse, it still keeps up with the energetic feel – excellently executed! the vocal harmonies throughout really gel the track together, and keep it flowing; we imagine this one’ll be a great one live. incredible stuff! plus, guitar solos in abundance on this, and they sound class, showing off the musical quality within the band.
