An Evening For Anthony – artist focus!

We can’t wait for our gig on Saturday in aid of The Anthony Nolan Foundation alongside Manchester Women Songwriters!

Here’s a little post detailing each of the artists we’re going to have performing! It’s a stellar lineup if we say so ourselves!

First up, we have Run Remedy – a lovely songwriter whose been on the Manchester scene for a while now, she’s collaborated with many many musicians on the scene, accompanying people on violin, and guitar and vocals! Definitely one to keep an eye on. Her songs are wonderful! Check them out on Bandcamp here!

Nat Dempsey has been playing many of our gigs, especially over lockdown, and he always delivers a lovely set! We’ve had him featured on our Just The Crust segment for his new track ‘Last Call‘ which only highlights his songwriting ability – only a young lad, but with so much talent – go and check him out on Spotify.

Toria Wooff is one of our favourite people in the entire world – such a talented individual!! An absolute joy to catch live, with fantastic songwriting talent and beautiful delivery on each and every part of her songs. Her EP ‘Badlands‘ released last year was incredible (shout out to Sloe Flower Studio) and is definitely worth checking out! Go and drop her a follow on Spotify to keep up with any new music! (We highly recommend her cover of Alice Cooper’s Poison.)

Dora Noszkay is a regular Bread performer nowadays! We’ve had her perform for us many times, most notably at our Breadstock 2020 event, where she played us a blinder of a set 😊 her new single ‘Reset‘ was our Just The Crust feature the other week, a fantastic tune definitely worth listening to! Go and have a listen her over on Spotify – we can’t wait to see what she brings to the table this Saturday!

Laura Farrow is a regular on the Manchester scene, putting on a weekly open mic over at Lions Den Bar Deansgate, and performing across the city and with her band. We caught her EP launch the other year at Jimmys where she absolutely dazzled the audience with the full band set up and fantastic musicianship! We also featured her music on our Grain Radio segment – you can find her music over on Spotify!

Our final artist is our very own michael webster – most of you who are familiar with us will know of michael very well, so we don’t need to explain too much of his music here! His previous single ‘ibis hotel / collision course‘ was released in June, with great reviews coming out about it – and there’s a new single ‘linger, still / single malt‘ out on the 8th August! Go and check him out on Bandcamp and Spotify.

That’s all the artists we’ve got performing this Saturday! Big shout out to Manchester Women Songwriters for helping us organise another fantastic gig in aid of a very worthy cause. You’ll be able to find all of the livestreams on our Facebook page, or in our ‘Bread Social’ Facebook group! Definitely one to catch. See you guys on Sat from 7pm!

Party in the Pantry: Artist Focus!

We thought we’d do a massive post about the artists we having coming up for you on Saturday for Party in the Pantry alongside Manchester Women Songwriters!

Rob Crampton – we’ve caught Rob plenty of times on the local circuit and he always continues to impress us! we featured his latest single ‘Deeper Than A Thousand Miles’ on our ‘Just The Crust’ a few weeks back and it’s a brilliant song! Check it out on Spotify here! Definitely one to watch on the scene!

Sophie Grace Ahmed – we’re huge fans of Sophie’s music, we’ve known her for a long time and she is fantastic! we love her honest and focused songwriting style – a huge talent on the scene! can’t wait to see what she’s got planned for us this time 🙂

Claire Jordan – Claire is a familiar face across Manchester especially over at MWS gigs and she always excels! her songwriting ability is lovely and she always delivers a captivating performance! we can’t wait to catch her set, sure it’s going to be fantastic!

Chloe Lawrence – we aren’t really that familiar with Chloe!! so we’re going to post an excerpt from Manchester Women Songwriters’ post‘From her bohemian roots in the mountains of Spain, Chloe has been forged in the folk revelations of the 60’s. Her natural wanderlust led her to revelously dance barefoot with her audience at beach parties and juxtapose this with contemplative intimate sets, where the ethos of her style showcases the classical elements of folk music, synergising it with her own fierce independent modernity.’ We can’t wait to catch her set!! you can catch her latest release ‘CAFÉ’ here!

Ade – Ade is one of our favourite songwriters on the scene, with an absolutely recognisable songwriting talent that has delighted listeners all across Manchester! we love his music and he is a fantastic person – he keeps on releasing fantastic songs and we absolutely can’t wait to catch him performing live for us again. go and find his music on Spotify here!

michael webster – we don’t think we need to talk too much about our next artist. Michael runs the label and hosts all of our gigs – inspired by artists such as Courtney Barnett, Kate Bush, Bob Dylan, Neil Young – and everyone on the scene too! Check out his music on Spotify or Bandcamp!

That’s about it for our post.. make sure you catch us on Saturday from 7pm on the Facebook pages Bread Records and Manchester Women Songwriters to catch all the action! Raising funds for Emmeline’s Pantry – you can donate here!

Breadstock: Artist Focus continued! 🍞

Here’s the rest of the lineup for our event Breadstock on Monday!

Laura Farrow – Laura is a Manchester-based singer songwriter who hosts her own weekly open mic night at Lions Den Manchester every Monday (when not in quarantine!) Her first EP ‘Waiting For Something’ is a lovely collection of her songs, and she’s just released another EP ‘One Take’ which really encapsulates her live performances – definitely worth checking out!!

O’Neill Bros – we’ve known the O’Neill Bros for a long time now and their americana/folk rock blend is right up our street! We’ve had them perform for us a few times and they’ve recently started up Music Solid which focuses on promoting local artists – a venture we can all get behind! Check out their EP ‘Flight of the Earls’ here!

Edward Thomas – Ed is a regular on the local music scene, performing across Manchester on a very regular basis through open mics and gigs! His intricate guitarwork is always great to hear, and the structuring of his songs brings a fresh twist to modern singer-songwriters! Check out his first single ‘Breathe / Business or Death’ here!

Millicent – we’ve personally known Millie for a very long time, being from Preston and she’s only gone from strength to strength! Her vocal talent is insane and her songwriting work really stands her out from the rest – her 2018 release ‘Senses’ is full of great tracks and gives us a great glimpse into her ability – find it on Spotify here!

Harrison Rimmer – Harrison is a Bread regular nowadays, performing at plenty of our gigs and often making an appearance at our open mics – especially with the turn to virtual spaces for performance! We love his music – he’s able to write folk-punk tunes such as ‘Ripped Up Magazine’ and then also bring it down to a more relaxed level with songs such as ‘I Am On Fire’ (which we featured on the first episode of Bread Radio!) and ‘Scared’. He’s just released a brand new EP ‘Broken Strings’ which is definitely worth a stream!

Mathew Kerry – Mathew is another artist who we’ve featured heavily lately – easily one of our favourite artists on the scene and a lovely chap too! His songwriting capability and lyrical wizardry are evident as soon as you listen to him, especially on his single ‘Paper Round’ which we’re huge fans of! You can find his EP ‘Okie Dokie?’ on Spotify here – we went down to the launch last year and had a lovely time 🙂

michael webster – we don’t think we need to talk too much about our next artist. Michael runs the label and hosts all of our gigs – inspired by artists such as Courtney Barnett, Kate Bush, Bob Dylan, Neil Young – and everyone on the scene too! Check out his music on Spotify or Bandcamp!

Wanda Roslyn – we’ve only known Wanda for a while but we’re truly amazed by what we’ve seen! Unreal songwriting capabilities and intricate performances. Would be perfect on a Sofar Sounds gig. We are super looking forward to new music!!

Matt Smedley – Matt is a guitarist whose talent is beyond belief – gets better every time we see him perform. His guitarwork is insane, such care taken with each note and melodies that could fit into a lovely soundscape! Definitely worth checking out. We featured him on Just The Crust a few weeks back – you can find his music on Spotify here! He also recently put out a collaborative release with Benjamin Finney which is amazing!

That’s the lot! A lot of artists to check out, and plenty of great musicians performing for you on Bank Holiday Monday! Go check out the event page on Facebook! 👽

Tiny Changes Fundraiser postponement!

we’ve not taken this decision lightly, but our Tiny Changes fundraising event this weekend has been postponed due to the current climate 😞

there’s been growing concern amongst artists involved about the morality of asking people to come down and potentially risking their health / other’s health just to come to a gig – especially as Lions Den Bar Deansgate have taken the precaution of shutting for the indefinite future 👽

we’d like to shout out our artists who were involved in the gig, including Harrison Rimmer Mathew Kerry Benjamin Finney Olivia Browse Laura Farrow Wanda Roslyn Adam Pilgrim – make sure you go and listen to any of their music they’ve got online! if you want to support the amazing Tiny Changes cause then please donate to them 🍞
