we’re back with our next “BAKED” band night on the Thursday 20th of March at the Eagle Inn! ๐ฅช
our first two have been so superb, with a great turnout for each one, and we’ve got yet another incredible lineup in store for us, with the amazing talents of Mr. Fish, Toenails, and Overdrive performing for us ๐ค
we’ll be starting up at 7:30, and it’s sure to be a belter. you can get advance tickets over on Fatsoma at https://fatso.ma/1oJn ๐
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Smalltown Love Song” from Sura Laynes! ๐
the Derby-based indie rock band have put out a strong collection of singles already, and with having performed a whole bunch of gigs in the local area, they’ve really made their mark on the scene as ones to watch ๐ค
this new single sounds fantastic, there’s echoes of various influence in it, ranging from Jesus and The Mary Chain, to more anthemic indie rock acts like Oasis, and there’s a lovely groove behind the track, a moody backdrop that sets the tone for Walsh’s vocals to really take command of the tune. the drums and bass create a luscious atmosphere, and the droney guitarwork gives us a real 90’s alternative feel, and the lyrics paint an incredible portrait of love and romance – it’s a brilliant listen! ๐ง
we had an incredible time on Thursday at the Eagle Inn for our latest “BAKED” band night
a massive shout out to everyone who made it down, great to see such a lovely audience enjoying themselves – and our acts BARDSMoss ValleyNovacane and Old Sun, New Moon were unreal, amazing sets from them all! a brilliant show of the talent here in Manchester
we’ll be back next month with our next one, another brilliant one in store – keep your eyes peeled for the announcement next week!
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new debut single “Shoot The Cameras” by Frank & The Beats ๐
we’ve known Frank for a good while now, having been performing across Manchester at our open mics, and we’ve popped him on a few solo sets – he’s got a band together now, and we were honoured to have him perform with them at our last “BAKED” band night, they were class ๐
this new single sound lovely, with a lovely ringing acoustic guitar forming the basis of the track, driving rhythm with the bass and drums enhancing the foundation, and lovely guitar riffs throughout the track echoing Frank’s commanding and strong vocal – a great folk-rock tune. the lyricism is on-point, with introspective and thoughtful commentary, proving his ability as a songwriter ๐ธ
this week we’ve been celebrating two of our releases with Narwhals
today was the three year anniversary of our first track with them on the label, “3310 & A Pterosaur“, such a fantastic tune and an incredible indication of their songwriting ability and musicianship
and on Sunday was the one year anniversary of the second to last track we put out with them, “Unstitched” with Thฤ one of our favourites, such a raw track and a fantastic listen!
you can find the tracks on all streaming platforms, and you can purchase them to keep a digital copy for yourself at https://narwhalsuk.bandcamp.com/
our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “News From Nowhere” from Manchester-based psychedelic outfit Cromwell Range ๐ฅ
over the past year or so, they’ve been playing gigs across Manchester, and gaining a name for themselves as ones to watch, with intricate melodies, anthemic choruses and a real sense of musicianship – this is their debut release, and it sounds fantastic ๐
it’s got a lovely groove to it, the bass and drums in perfect unison to create a gorgeous backdrop, and the atmospheric guitar tone really sets the scene – plenty of space for the main vocal to take command ๐ค the organ that comes in from the second verse compliments the song so well, giving a 70’s psychedelic feel, akin to Led Zeppelin yet with a strong modern twist! a real tune and a brilliant first offering from the band ๐ค
we had a spectacular night yesterday down at the Eagle Inn for our first “BAKED” band show!
