our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Exit Love” from HWY!

we were massive fans of their first two singles, which really set them as ones to watch on the North West scene – we’ve also had them perform for us at our Toasted gigs and for Halloweezer and their live sets are extraordinary, with an incredible stage presence and a real ability to move a crowd

this new single sees them expand on their grungey sound, with gorgeous guitar melodies throughout which create a lovely soundscape and atmosphere for the track – the calm groove is a beautiful backdrop for the vocals to soar over, and Ryan’s vocal sounds spectacular here; maintaining control over the track and as it opens up to the chorus, his power and rage is only complimented by the instrumentation, a ferocious outburst of energy that we’ve come to see with all of HWY’s releases. the dynamic of this track is lush, there’s so much energy and restraint all at once – the breakdown is a serene breath of fresh air from the chaos and power of the rest of the track, and the guitar riffs are second to none. yet another incredible release from these guys!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the new EP “I Love The Sound” from Manchester-based indie-pop outfit VALA

we’ve covered VALA a bunch in the past, and we love their dreamy, lofi-inspired indie tunes – their latest single back in December 2022 “Don’t Think Twice (It’s Not Alright)” was lovely!

they’ve returned with a full length release here, and it only proves their quality with an array of lovely tunes in addition to their previous singles, showing off their talent and ability to write luscious soundscapes, with careful and personal lyricism, whilst still maintaining the energy of the indie genre. these new tunes are laden with gorgeous synths and bring a more psychedelic element to their music, quality stuff!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single from Faint line “Red Tide“!

the Yorkshire-based duo have been making their mark on the national scene with a flurry of singles over the past year, and they’ve had significant radio play and racked up thousands of plays already, showing that they’re truly ones to watch on the alt-pop scene.

this new single “Red Tide” shows off their musical prowess superbly, with a driving bassline setting the scene for the track, with a gorgeous groove, soft and delicate piano chords over the top and a slick guitar melody that really decorate the soundscape beautifully. Lia’s vocal soars expertly over the track, sounding gorgeous and with a really intricate approach to songwriting, it’s definitely a track to spin on a summer’s day like today!

our feature for today’s Just The Crust feature is the brand new debut single from UGLY CLUB “KILL ME”

bursting onto the scene with this explosive debut, they’ve already set their sights high with an excellent and energetic release – well received by fans across the UK already!

with a gorgeous guitar riff leading the track, it echoes genres of metal and hardrock, yet maintains a soft and delicate element throughout the verses – Imo’s diverse and dynamic vocal ability really shining here to create a real sense of balance in the track. the chorus is a ferocious singalong hook, full of fight and power – a real anthem for those who have been made to feel small.

the track is super well balanced, holding the dynamic of the song and showing off the chemistry of the band incredibly. the breakdown after the singalong is a gorgeous break and contrast to the previous section, and it opens up to a massive wall of sound that is sure to get anyone going.

this tune sounds lovely from the get-go, with a luscious guitar melody commanding the track, and complimenting his vocal ability throughout – his lyrics being raw and honest, it’s really lovely to listen to. as the track builds, it gains a lovely intensity, and the guitar solo post-chorus is gorgeous! this tune is a fantastic indication of Jack’s talent and definitely not one to miss out on.
