we’ve known Nat for ages now, and we’re massive fans of his down-to-earth songwriting style, and his innate talent to write a relatable and introspective song that has a real groove behind it, utilising his musical ability to create interesting and melodic progressions 👊

this new single is full evidence of his ability, opening up with a gorgeous dreamy guitar melody that matches his flowing vocal expertly, there’s a real luscious soundscape to this track, and his vocal ability takes centre stage as he commands the attention of the listener with his raw power. his lyrics are almost like a conversation, connecting effortlessly with the listener – and the drop into the chorus is beautiful. yet another incredible tune under his belt 🤝

Just The Crust 02/03/26: Dreaming Of Citra – Never Looked At Me That Way 🌙

we’ve covered these guys’ previous singles and we love their indie-rock/dream-pop esque style, with luscious melodies throughout their music and infectious hooks, and they’ve been gigging across Manchester a bunch, with a headline show next at YES in June! 👊

this new single sounds fantastic, with a lovely atmospheric sound right from the get-go, with driving rhythm forming the foundation of the track, allowing for the guitar riff to soar expertly above it, and the main vocal takes command, ensuring the listener is hanging on every word, and it’s a real personal yet adeptly written track, with raw emotion in every lyric but also maintaining a singalong chorus. we especially love the middle eight build into the final chorus, a real slow build that works exceptionally – it’s a fantastic listen! 🌙

Just The Crust 23/02/26: Lost Lot – Noah 👊

our feature for today’s Just The Crust is the brand new single “Noah” from Lost Lot! 🎶

the indie-rock outfit have been making their mark on the North-East music scene for a good while now, performing at a bunch of venues and they’ve put out a great run of singles and an EP over the past few years 👊

this new single “Noah” sounds fantastic, it opens up with a luscious guitar and piano melody that compliment each other excellently, forming a lovely soundscape for the main vocal to take centre-stage and ensure the listener is hanging onto every word. it’s a picturesque song, with fantastic imagery within the lyrics and has a real sentimental feeling to it – every element of the track contributes to the feel and there’s a proper groove behind it. an incredible listen! 🎶

Isaac Neilson returns with his brand new single “No Affection“! the alternative-rock singer-songwriter proves his innate ability to write a catchy, singalong hook with this tune, and his lyrical capabilities are on full display here with astute songwriting, painting a real picture – the drive and ferocity of the instrumentation and production behind the track really elevate this single to a new level. well worth a listen!


the new single from Bunny Alex “Ugly Crying” has just released, and it opens up with a dreamy and delicate soundscape, with a perfect coupling of soft guitar and vocal – and it builds so effortlessly throughout the track. her lyrical ability is on full display here, conveying raw and personal emotions into prose, and it’s a gorgeous listen from the Liverpool-based songwriter.


Manchester-based songwriter Kieran Arnold is back with his new single “Molly“! a familiar face for us on the scene, we’ve been huge fans of his music for a good while and this new track is a true example of why. his songwriting style is great, personal and intimate yet feeling conversationalist and down-to-earth. it’s a more intricate and calm track compared to his previous releases, and it’s great to see his repertoire contains such variety – definitely worth checking out!


Sheffield-based alternative-rock outfit Riviera have just dropped their EP “Desiderium“! you can hear such a range of influences right from the get-go, with sludgey guitar tones, driving rhythm and indie-rock-esque vocals. they’ve managed to carve a real unique sound for themselves here, and with that energetic, fierce tone to their music, alongside a real ear for luscious melodies, they’ve definitely set themselves as ones to watch for the future!


we’ve known Tuesday’s Girl for a good couple of months now having caught her perform live in Manchester a bunch, and she’s released her debut single “When I Was Your Age“! the track captures the live performance superbly, with a luscious piano tone forming the foundation, allowing her vocal to flow freely above, and the instrumentation perfectly compliments the track. her lyrical capabilities are matched excellently with the musical quality within the track, such a great listen!


Manchester-based alternative rock outfit Intake have just dropped their EP “Is This Still Real?“! right from the start, you can hear the ferocity and power that comes with their music, with huge guitar riffs, punchy rhythm and explosive vocals. there’s a real sense of urgency and excitement in their music, matched with a groove that gives a real drive to their music; it’s well worth checking out in full!


another familiar face for us on the Manchester scene, Toenails has just released his new single “The Party (Electric)“! we were massive fans of the acoustic version that was released previously, and this new variant sounds huge! it gives another perspective to the song, with a driving energy behind it, with the full band on it – it really proves his musical quality and also the variety of his talents. a brilliant tune and one to definitely check out!


we’ve covered Funeralcare a bunch in the past and they’ve just released their new single “Flimsy“! the track opens up with a gorgeous, moody soundscape, with a luscious guitar melody that’s complimented by a real groove within the drums and bass line, and the vocals flow with lovely melodies over the track. the track feels dreamy yet fierce, and it opens up excellently throughout, cementing Funeralcare as ones to watch for 2026.

Just The Crust 16/02/26: Motel Sundown – Watch Which Way The Wind Blows 🎶

we’ve covered Motel Sundown’s tracks a bunch in the past and we’re always blown away by their talent, their ability to create a gorgeous atmosphere in their music and how they’re able to write intricate and interesting melodies and lyrics 🎶

the Liverpool-based trio have returned with this new single, and it sounds absolutely incredible – opening with a gorgeous guitar melody that is perfectly complimented by the violinwork, and giving plenty of room for the main vocal to shine. the track feels dreamy and flows effortlessly, and the rhythm is soft yet brings a real sense of groove to the song – and as always, gorgeous vocal harmonies; and luscious lead riffs from the guitar and violin which really give an upbeat lift to the middle section. yet another incredible track under their belts 🌙

the Manchester-born, Paris-based songwriter has released this EP on Todmorden’s Golden Lion Sounds – and it’s his debut EP, following the release of singles from it throughout last year 👊

the electro-folk sound of it is infectious, with luscious synths, driving rhythm and groove behind each of the tracks, lending a lovely atmosphere to his folky, americana style songwriting. his lyricism is direct, personal, and relatable – his ability to write a hook is second to none and sure to have any listener singing along. 🚀

Just The Crust 02/02/26: Glacmanis – Songs For A Chase Sequence 👊

we’ve known these guys for a good while, having had them perform for us a bunch and writing up reviews of their past releases – we love their laid-back and lo-fi sound, such a great atmosphere to their tunes 👊

this new EP continues with that sound, opening with a driving, lo-fi track that feels like it should be in a racing soundtrack. their use of dynamic and instrumentation within their music ensures that every line is exciting, and unfolds throughout the flow of each and every tune. they’ve got singalong hooks, a beautiful use of synths, guitar melodies and driving rhythm forming the foundation of their tracks – it’s a great listen start to finish 💥

A familiar face for us here in Manchester, Tommy Cei has just released his debut single “I Roam“! We’ve heard this track live a bunch and this studio recording really encapsulates that live feel it has to it, the power and raw emotion that he channels into the tune. It’s real proof of his songwriting talent, his ability to convey emotion through his lyrics and create a catchy track – well worth a listen!


we had The Marras perform for us back last year at the Eagle Inn and we were blown away by their talent – their ability to write an energetic, driving track that has real lyrical depth and gorgeous melodies throughout, and this new single “Echoes” is proper evidence of that! it’s got a real groove behind it, luscious guitar tones and powerful vocals – it’s another fantastic tune under their belt.


we’ve covered Foxglove a bunch before, and we love their dream-pop sound – their new EP “Night Drive” only proves this even further! it’s got a gorgeous, sparkly sound to it, with lovely vocal melodies, soaring guitar tones and a formidable, powerful foundation of rhythm that really creates a huge soundscape for each of the tracks. well worth checking out – our favourite from the EP is “Busy Beach“, such a groove behind it!


we’ve got Beth Jackson performing for us at our next The Monthly Spread show, and we can’t wait – this new single “Weatherman” is absolutely fantastic. with down-to-earth, tongue-in-cheek lyricism there’s a real sense of relatability to the songwriting, it’s got a folk-punky feel to the track, and the instrumentation on the track gives it a real groove and flow to it all. such a great tune!


another familiar face on the Manchester scene, Jimmy Page XI has returned with his new single “Bringing Me Back“! it opens with a lovely acoustic guitar progression, and the drop into the full band is exquisite. with introspective lyricism, his songwriting here is great – and the instrumentation behind him really compliments his songwriting style. it’s a great track and we can’t wait to hear even more!


Manchester-based alternative-rock outfit Boxfires released their new single “Twelve Long Years“! it’s thrashy, energetic and punky – there’s a proper drive behind the track that gives it that heavy ferocity. the vocals command the listener’s attention, matched by the drive of the rhythm pushing the track along, and it’s got a proper lovely guitar solo that tops it all off nicely.


Manchester/London-based songwriter Liv Cartier has just put out the new single “i don’t want you i just can’t be alone” – following the release of her previous two tracks in 2025. it’s got a dreamy atmosphere to it, almost moody in the verses but expertly contrasting in the choruses to really show that dynamic, which expertly compliments her vocal talent here, and her raw and personal lyricism really paints a story, proving her as one to watch for the future!


a real favourite of ours here in Manchester, Run Remedy just put out a live rendition of “Tribulation” with Big Society! her ability to create a gorgeous track is unmatched, there’s always a real sense of purpose and commitment to creativity within her music. the atmosphere of the track is superb, such a dreamy track, which perfectly balances to and compliments her vocals, and her ability to convey a story through songwriting is second to none.

the first offering from the Manchester indie-rock outfit, and they’ve got off to a strong start, having performed a bunch over the past few months including a headline show, and their single proving their talent 👊

the track sounds mega, with a strong mix of powerful and grounding rhythm, a luscious lead guitar tone and acoustic guitar working in tandem to create a full sonic sound – and leaving plenty of space for Jack’s vocal to take command and deliver his story in expert fashion, with no-nonsense, direct lyricism that paints a real picture of emotion. 🌙
