The Wrap: July 2025 ๐ŸŒฎ

we’ve got our next edition of The Wrap feature! ๐Ÿค

we’ve got in-depth reviews of some of our favourite releases of July, and it’s been yet another incredible month of music – check out all of our reviews below โฌ‡๏ธ

Liverpool-based indie folk songwriter Zara Smile is back with their brand new single “Fight Back“! with delicate instrumentation forming the basis of the track, it’s wonderfully put together to really show off their intricate and raw songwriting talent – the strings give a lovely backdrop to Zara’s vocal and it sounds mega, real proof of their talent!ย

Manchester doom grunge outfit Moss Valley have just put out their new tune “Yin and Yang“, and it opens up with their signature huge riffs, heavy tones and atmospheric sound – with driving rhythm, massive guitar and bass riffs and Zara’s vocal taking centre stage, it’s another banger from them and they’re sure to be ones to watch for the rest of 2025.

A familiar face for us, the fantastic Nat Dempsey has just dropped his new single “Junk Food“! Another lovely indie-pop tune from the songwriter, it’s got an incredible atmosphere to it, with a huge chorus, driving rhythm and upbeat energy, all of which only brings his songwriting ability and talent to the forefront, a proper tune and well worth checking out!ย

We’re huge fans of VALA, having covered their tunes a bunch in the past and they’ve just returned with this new single “Forever” – a lovely lo-fi offering from them, with their signature indie/lo-fi tone to it, expert lyricism, you can hear the chemistry of the band all throughout this tune. It’s a singalong one, with a catchy hook – another mega track under their belt.ย

Banquet have just dropped their second single “Pains“! It opens up with a lovely ethereal atmosphere, with a real 80s post punk feel to it, giving a huge space for the main vocal to take command. There’s quality songwriting ability on display through, painting a real picture – and it’s only complimented expertly by the instrumentation, with a real dynamic balance throughout the tune. Well worth checking out!ย

Another familiar face on the Manchester circuit, indie-folk artist Harriet Dagnall has just released her new single “Best Laid Plans” – it’s got a lovely intricate atmosphere right from the get-go, with a delicate almost conversational tone, her raw and passionate lyricism only proves her songwriting talent, and the stripped-back feel of the tune is expertly executed, an incredible listen and definitely one to put on repeat.ย

Another of our favourites on the scene, ByWednesday have just put out their new single “MPH“! We’ve been huge fans of their previous tunes and they’ve taken it to the next level with this new one – it’s a fast-paced, upbeat tune, with their signature indie-songwriter elements, but with more guitar riffs, a real driving rhythm section and a gorgeous atmospheric breakdown. Well worth checking out!ย

Liverpool indie-pop outfit Hushtones have released their new single “Stupid Things” – it’s a gorgeous tune, with lovely vocal harmonies throughout the track, matched with a driving upbeat groove behind it – and with expert musicianship and songwriting ability, this is a proper anthemic singalong tune. They’ve been making a name for themselves over the past few years and this tune is proof to keep an eye on them in the future!ย
