Liverpool-based indie folk songwriter Zara Smile is back with their brand new single “Fight Back“! with delicate instrumentation forming the basis of the track, it’s wonderfully put together to really show off their intricate and raw songwriting talent – the strings give a lovely backdrop to Zara’s vocal and it sounds mega, real proof of their talent! 


Manchester doom grunge outfit Moss Valley have just put out their new tune “Yin and Yang“, and it opens up with their signature huge riffs, heavy tones and atmospheric sound – with driving rhythm, massive guitar and bass riffs and Zara’s vocal taking centre stage, it’s another banger from them and they’re sure to be ones to watch for the rest of 2025.


A familiar face for us, the fantastic Nat Dempsey has just dropped his new single “Junk Food“! Another lovely indie-pop tune from the songwriter, it’s got an incredible atmosphere to it, with a huge chorus, driving rhythm and upbeat energy, all of which only brings his songwriting ability and talent to the forefront, a proper tune and well worth checking out! 


We’re huge fans of VALA, having covered their tunes a bunch in the past and they’ve just returned with this new single “Forever” – a lovely lo-fi offering from them, with their signature indie/lo-fi tone to it, expert lyricism, you can hear the chemistry of the band all throughout this tune. It’s a singalong one, with a catchy hook – another mega track under their belt. 


Banquet have just dropped their second single “Pains“! It opens up with a lovely ethereal atmosphere, with a real 80s post punk feel to it, giving a huge space for the main vocal to take command. There’s quality songwriting ability on display through, painting a real picture – and it’s only complimented expertly by the instrumentation, with a real dynamic balance throughout the tune. Well worth checking out! 


Another familiar face on the Manchester circuit, indie-folk artist Harriet Dagnall has just released her new single “Best Laid Plans” – it’s got a lovely intricate atmosphere right from the get-go, with a delicate almost conversational tone, her raw and passionate lyricism only proves her songwriting talent, and the stripped-back feel of the tune is expertly executed, an incredible listen and definitely one to put on repeat. 


Another of our favourites on the scene, ByWednesday have just put out their new single “MPH“! We’ve been huge fans of their previous tunes and they’ve taken it to the next level with this new one – it’s a fast-paced, upbeat tune, with their signature indie-songwriter elements, but with more guitar riffs, a real driving rhythm section and a gorgeous atmospheric breakdown. Well worth checking out! 


Liverpool indie-pop outfit Hushtones have released their new single “Stupid Things” – it’s a gorgeous tune, with lovely vocal harmonies throughout the track, matched with a driving upbeat groove behind it – and with expert musicianship and songwriting ability, this is a proper anthemic singalong tune. They’ve been making a name for themselves over the past few years and this tune is proof to keep an eye on them in the future!

Manchester-based pyncher have just put out their new single “At The Seaside“! they’ve had an incredible run of music lately, and we’re huge fans of them – this new tune sounds fantastic, a real cool, effortless groove behind the track, with a 90’s alternative nostalgia feel thrown in there. the song starts moody and stripped-back, yet opens up to a proper wall of sound feel, with a lovely offering of distortion, proving themselves as a must-watch band for 2025!


Remote have just dropped “Five Thousand Miles“! we were huge fans of their previous EP, and this new single sounds gorgeous, a real melodic and intricate acoustic track, that’s got lovely vocal melodies, a proper jazzy and soulful feel behind it, and a lovely rhythm section that gives the track a real flow of life to it. it’s a lovely song of romance, with image-inducing lyricism that really proves their songwriting ability – definitely one to listen to!


Atheana just released their new single “Burden“! this is their first release of the year, following a few singles in 2022-23, and it’s a fantastic new offering, giving us a proper heavy tune – it’s got walls of distortion behind it, driving rhythm and powerful and commanding vocals! they’ve got a fantastic balance between heavier elements and more lighter, airy sections, really creating something that’s truly true to themselves – a great listen!


another of our favourites on the scene, Luke Hart has just put out his second single “Till Again She Is Mine“! we’re huge fans of Luke’s songwriting ability, his talent to be able to craft and convey emotion always blows us away, and his honest and raw songwriting is second to none – this new single is true evidence of it! the track sounds gorgeous, a lovely balance of raw piano and vocals, and enforces a real focus on his lyricism – it’s a gorgeous listen!


Chloe Foy has just released her second album “Complete Fool“! it’s a gorgeous album, a lovely balance of pop, folk and indie genres, that come together effortlessly to create something that is truly unique to herself – with a real ear for a catchy melody, beautiful vocal harmonies, you can really hear the effort and passion put into the creation of each tune. she has a real ability to put raw passion into each of her lyrics, and not only make something that is artistically lovely, but also catchy and relatable. it’s an incredible listen!


Manchester post-punk outfit Pomona have just dropped their new single “Double Yellows“! it’s a real in-your-face tune, opening up straight away with a no-nonsense guitar riff, driving drums and bass, and commanding vocals, they’re not pulling any punches with this tune. with an anthemic chorus, a proper singalong hook, punchy verses and a gorgeous, atmospheric, and dynamic middle eight, they’ve ensured their musicality and songwriting talent is on full display with this track.


Manchester-based Tesni has just released the new single “Nothing’s New Again“! it’s a gorgeous acoustic ballad, complete with expert lyricism, with raw and descriptive songwriting ability, a luscious guitar melody paving the base of the track, and an infectious, driving rhythm section that compliments the song so well. Tesni’s vocal glides across the instrumentation superbly, flowing like a silky river and utilising melodies to really create something that sounds so beautiful!


Manchester indie-rock outfit Glacmanis have just dropped their second album “Radiomanis“! we had them perform for us in the past and we loved their energetic performance, their quality, catchy tunes and there’s a real feel-good factor to their music. this new album has a much more acoustic-y feel to it, delving more into indie-folk elements, and with lovely vocal melodies and harmonies throughout, gorgeous guitar licks and driving rhythm, there’s a whole bunch of fantastic tunes on this album – well worth checking out!

Manchester-based alternative-folk act Will Walton has just released the brand new album “living in a birdhouse“! laden with dreamy soundscapes, intricate and descriptive lyricism, Will’s ability to paint a picture through song is second to none, conveying emotion and feeling in an expert manner. there’s a huge range here, from upbeat thrashy in-your-face tracks, to more delicate sounds – it’s well worth checking out!


we’ve been huge fans of Grace Elizabeth Harvey for a good while now, since she performed for us last year, putting us in awe with her magical performance, her expertly-crafted tracks, and her debut EP “Other Faith” is out now! it’s a gorgeous listen, beautifully encapsulating the intricacy of her live performance, with direct yet poetic lyricism throughout, proving her expertise as a songwriter. a must listen for any fans of acoustic, folk or americana!


another of our favourites on the scene, Ayanam Udoma has just put out his new single “Dream Girl Don’t Fade“! we’ve known Ayanam for years, and his ability to create a catchy, feel-good tune is second to none – this new single is real proof of that. with a heavy groove behind it, there’s a proper drive in the track that only compliments his soft, gravelly vocal, which takes centre-stage here and ensures the listener’s attention. another brilliant tune from him, and we can’t wait to hear more!


Manchester power-pop princess Yasmin Coe has just put out her new single “Blink Twice“! her ethereal, dreamy vocal sounds heavenly on this track, and it compliments the alternative rock feel of the instrumental, the driving of the bass and the drums to create a strong foundation for the track, yet ensuring that she’s in command of the track, and with poignant and direct lyricism, it’s pulling no punches, a real down-to-earth tune that sounds incredible and has cemented her as one to watch for 2025.


another of our favourites on the scene, MR. FISH have just released their EP “Chippy Tea“! their upbeat, energetic performances wowed us when we had them perform for us, and this EP is chock-full of them, really delivering their live setting into a studio recording. with gorgeous melodies throughout, singalong choruses, each of their tunes is a real feel-good anthem, bound to get anyone dancing. definitely worth a listen!


Bonfire Tide have teamed up with Ellysse Mason for the release of their single “Shadows“, preceding their debut album which came out in early June! it’s a gorgeous listen, with a luscious guitar melody lacing the track, complimenting Ellysse’s vocal expertly, and her balance with Bonfire Tide vocalist David is a fantastic pair. it’s a real delicate, intimate atmosphere, and the lyricism is quality, painting a picture superbly. the flow of the track is expert, building ever so softly, yet feeling like a real journey – well worth checking out!


Manchester alternative-rock outfit MALCOM have just released their new single “Aeroplane“! they’ve been making a name for themselves over the past year, performing across Manchester with their no-nonsense indie/alt blend, and this song boasts a real attitude, a real drive behind it, expert lyricism, and a real catchy chorus that’s bound to be a proper singalong. it’s well worth checking out – an essential for any Manchester-based indie/alt listener!


we’ve covered Cuties’ tunes a bunch in the past, and we love their feel-good blend of indie rock, emo and alternative tunes – this new single “Swoon” is another fantastic tune under their belt. it’s got a real upbeat vibe, quality musicianship present in the track, real heartfelt and passionate lyricism, alongside a real singalong feel to it all. it’s got a fantastic bridge too, with an almost effortless build, that really sets up the final outro and ensures them as a must watch band for 2025.

we’ve got reviews of some of our favourite releases of April, and it’s been another fantastic month – you can find all of our reviews below ⬇️


Manchester’s own Creepy Crawly has just released the new single “The Tide“! a delicate and intricate ballad, both atmospheric and conversational, it’s a gorgeous tune. with passionate lyrics that paint a real picture and convey such emotion, lovely guitar melodies lacing the foreground and powerful yet delicate vocals, backed with a strong rhythm section providing the foundation, it’s an incredible listen – can’t wait for the release of the full album!


a familiar face for us, Jonny Beer has just put out “Aeroplanes“! following the release of his EP last year, he’s come back with another folk-rock anthem – albeit a more moody tone, it’s got a lovely swaying groove to it, and Jonny’s vocals cut through sharply to ensure the attention of the listener is on his expert wordcraft. his ability to convey a story is fantastic, and this tune is real evidence of his talent!


we’ve caught Kieran Arnold perform so many times now, and we’re always astounded by his ability to create a catchy yet powerful tune – and this new single “Get Away” is evident of that! it’s got a proper 90’s indie feel to it, but with his more modern storytelling and songwriting elements, and his story is portrayed in expert fashion here. with a full band behind him, it’s only elevated his talent and we’re huge fans of his music! well worth a listen!


we’ve caught FLEUR ROUGE a fair few times live now, and her ability to command a crowd’s attention is second to none – something that is evident all throughout her new EP “Wish You The Worst“! with driving basslines, expert production and no-nonsense lyricism, these tunes are quality and provide a real look into her world. she’s able to utilise great vocal melodies, catchy hooks and powerful lyricism to create something that is truly unique to her style.


we’ve had Summerhouse perform for us a bunch now, and we’re constantly in awe from their musical talent – this new single “Reverence” sounds fantastic! it’s got a gorgeous atmosphere behind it, feeling both intimate and conversational, almost like having a heart-to-heart with the raw lyrics that convey feelings and emotion expertly. the full band brings a lovely folky, country feel to the track, and really forms a real foundation to the track – it’s a fantastic listen!


we’ve been fans of Harriet Dagnall for a good while now, having caught her live so many times and she’s a real cornerstone of the Manchester folk scene, her new track “Two Doors Down” only proves her talent even further. it’s a delicate, raw track that not only feels intricate, but also opens up to a gorgeous atmosphere, with expert production behind the track, elevating her innate ability to write a song – her vocal melodies and lyrical capabilities are on full display here. it’s a brilliant tune and well worth checking out!


we covered pyncher’s first single a few months ago, and they’ve returned with this new tune “Space Rocket Simulator“! it’s got a super groove behind it, with the bass and drums working in perfect unison to create a lovely foundation, and with gorgeous guitar melodies, and commanding vocals, it not only sounds fantastic but the contrasts of the verses to the choruses really ensure their musical capabilities are on full display. they’ve managed to create something that traverses a plethora of genres, and the tune sounds incredible – we love it!


we’ve had Freddie Evans perform for us at a bunch of our open mics, and we love his raw and passionate songwriting style, and he’s just released his debut single “So Long, Sweet Summer Breeze“! compromising of two tracks, they’re both two delicate and intricate tunes, really ensuring that the live element is kept within the music, yet adding extra instrumentation and production techniques to give it that studio feel. Freddie’s vocals sound fantastic here, and he’s able to convey his story in adept fashion – it’s a lovely listen and well worth checking out!
