We’ve covered Pizza Crunch a bunch over the past few years, and they’ve continuously released banger after banger, they return in 2024 with their brand new single “Advertised Enlightenment“! It still has the lo-fi, indie elements that were present throughout their 2022 album “That Serene Age” (a great listen!), yet almost takes a darker, more post-punk-esque, murky feel to it all, monotone vocals throughout, groovy and luscious guitar and bass patterns, and a steady drumwork laying the foundation for the groove of the track. Opening into the chorus, it becomes more dream-like and atmospheric, a lovely contrast to the verses. Manchester-based indie-rockers Bayboards have had an incredible few years already, having sold out venues across Manchester and even their debut UK tour, proving that they are easily ones to watch for the future. They’ve started 2024 with their new single “Hannah“, a punky and hard-hitting tune, with such an infectious energy behind it, and a real sense of ferocity throughout the entire three minutes. The track comes in right from the get-go with a steady and powerful drum pattern, with a luscious bassline over the top – and the main vocal comes in and takes command of the entire track with a real sense of urgency and intensity. The chorus is a real anthemic one, perfect for a live singalong with audiences; and with a gorgeous production standpoint alongside the power of the raw track, this has proved that they’re back with a real motivation to go far in 2024. We’ve covered Manchester-based punk-outfit We Three Kings a bunch over the past few years, having put out a steady flow of fantastic and energetic releases. Off the back of the success of their previous single last year, they return with the new track “Gold Digger“! The track is three minutes of pure intensity, power and ferocity – kicking off with a real raw guitar riff, and as the vocal comes in it you can tell it’s just a sense of tension until the 25-second mark when the track opens up massively with a real outburst of drums and basslines, with a real driving groove throughout, commanding vocals, a gorgeous guitar riff flowing throughout the entire track, singalong gang vocals – it’s a real banger. Hallowed Men have dropped their debut album “Hollow Man“! Almost right from the get go you can hear the atmospheric nature of their music, draped in reverb and ambience – driven by powerful rhythm, psychedelic synthesisers and otherworldly vocals. Throughout the album there’s a real sense of groove to it all, and you can hear the post-punk and 90s influence in it, with lo-fi vibes surrounding the entirety. Sheffield indie-rock artist Daz Cadwallander returns with his brand new single “DO I WANNA LEAVE“! He’s already made waves with this track, gaining over 30,000 streams on it – with a real sense of power behind the track, an almost darker style compared to his previous singles, and it’s a fantastic tune. There’s a real atmosphere to the song, that perfectly compliments Daz’s vocals – and we really love the charismatic singalong chorus, and such a strong guitar solo in the track too, really showing the chemistry of the band and the strength of the production. When we had Full Billy perform for us, we were blown away by their charismatic stage presence, avid songwriting ability and powerful musicianship – the Preston-based outfit have just released their new single “Love is Dead“! The tune follows their first two singles, which have seen the band go from strength to strength; with upbeat indie-rock infusion, and fast-paced rhythm – this gives a gorgeous space for the main vocal to shine and take command with intricate and vibrant lyricism. We’re huge fans of Jacob Reddy, with him making incredible waves in the North West scene over the course of the year, performing a headline set at The Deaf Institute and playing at Glastonbury, releasing a bunch of incredible tracks, and he’s returned with a brand new single “Breaking Me Down“! Taking a more heavier, alternative rock feel compared to his previous singles, it feels as if his maturity shines right through this tune. An intimate and passionate lyrical context throughout, over a lovely guitar progression – the drums and bassline only accentuate the quality of this track, giving it a lovely flow and space, which Jacob utilises extensively with his performance. We had BARDS perform for us back in October at The Castle Hotel, and their raw power, ferocity and ability to wow a crowd really sets them apart from the rest – we’ve caught them live a bunch and they always smash it! Their new single “Roast” came out in November and it’s one of our favourites – getting going right from the start with huge anthemic guitarwork, massive drums and a powerful bassline, giving a real ferocious backdrop for the vocal to shine through. This is one of our favourite choruses, it’s catchy, driving and powerful – and the parallel atmosphere compared to the verse really makes it stand out. It’s a huge track, with so much going on, working perfectly in unison to create a huge soundscape – and the psychedelic nature of the bridge is a perfect break, yet also a brilliant precursor to the final chorus. The Rolling People have had an incredible 2023, performing at prestigious venues across Manchester and the North West, gaining over 100k streams on their single “Better Man” – and their new single “Grateful for Nothing” sounds absolutely fantastic. The Stockport-based indie outfit open the track with an anthemic, dreamy state, with luscious guitar lines throughout, only for the main vocal to come in and take direct command of the track. It’s a down-to-earth and conversationalist tone lyrically, almost as if you’re in the pub with your mates – and with a proper singalong chorus, it’s a track that will see The Rolling People go far. Manchester indie-punk outfit Spooky Goose have returned with a bang with their first release in two years “Conjure You“! We’ve had these guys perform for us a bunch over the past few years that we’ve known them, and this tune is a real culmination of the progress that they’ve made since being in Manchester. With great dual vocals from Will and Joe, their individual styles complimenting each other superbly, and maintaining their original unique storyteller songwriting ability – plus with intricate rhythm, gorgeous guitar tones and walls of sound alongside their harmonies, it’s a fantastic tune! We covered Taurine‘s last single on one of our previous features, and they’re back with their brand new single “Starv” – a huge anthemic banger, kicking off in a real mellow manner, and it opens up ferociously, with a gorgeous guitar melody that gives a perfect compliment to the intensity of the main vocal – as it comes into the chorus it explodes into a huge wall of sound, distortion and chaos, with a massive burst of rhythm, the guitar riff taking control yet giving so much space to the vocal; it’s a real political anthem about the climate of today’s society, with hard-hitting lyricism and pure passion and rage put into the track. Over the past few years, Emma Taylor has been making waves on the North West scene, performing in her hometown of Blackpool and beyond – now she’s moved to Manchester she’s formed her band Emma Taylor & The Wallflowers, and her brand new debut single “Fade (Stripped Back Version)” is a gorgeous introduction to her music. With a lovely intimate atmosphere, her vocal and guitar being solely on show, it proves her innate natural creative ability, her songwriting talent and ability to capture the listener’s attention right from the start.
